it all started in july, when she was hanging out with mina. they watched a few movies together, but then suddenly, mina turned the tv off and turned towards momo.

"we need to talk."

the worst sentence anyone can ever say to another person. momo immediately started sweating. her heart began to beat faster.

"about what?" momo asked.

"us." mina replied.

momo almost passed out. "okay."

"things don't feel right." mina said. "i miss the old momo."

momo furrowed her eyebrows. "i havent changed."

mina sighed. "yes you have. and i dont expect you to recognize that."

momo ran her fingers through her hair. "how have i changed? i thought we were doing well." momo said, disappointed.

"you're just different. i dont know.. its like you always have something on your mind. or someone." mina said.

momo flinched when mina added on the last part. "i don't." she lied.

mina was silent for a moment. momo was hoping she'd just drop the subject and make out with her.

"it's your old friends, isnt it?" mina asked.

momo only got more confused. "what?"

"you ditched us to hang out with them, and-"

"firstly, mina, i didn't see them in 3 years. i see you guys everyday. i missed them. why are you mad about that?" momo questioned.

"i'm not mad about that, im just making a point. you fought with your other friend, sana. and you miss her." mina said.

"yeah. i do, and im upset over that but it doesnt affect us." momo rebutted.

"it does affect us." mina replied. "because i can tell you love her. you love her more than a friend. i can tell by the way you talked about her, even before you guys had a fight." she added.

momo shook her head. "i love you, mina." she whispered, tears filling her eyes and fear setting in.

"i love you too, momo." mina said softly. "but i cant be with someone who loves another girl more than me."

momo shook her head furiously. "i dont love anyone as much as i love you." she said. "i love you so much."

mina didn't smile this time. she didnt tell momo she loved her.

"i think we should take a break. until you get everything figured out. until i get everything figured out." mina said.

a tear spilled down momo's cheek. "oh." was all she could choke out. there was a silence. momo got up and slowly grabbed her purse. "okay."

the break they decided to take was permanent.
