everything was fine for a few weeks, until the day momo's mother knocked on her door and sat by her on the bed. "we need to talk."

momo was fine on the outside, but she felt like she was going to vomit, and she started shaking and she felt like her tongue was tied in a knot.

"i know you love sana.." her mother started. momo's heartbeat quickened. she knew everything momo didn't want her to know.

"but honey... i just need you to know that things are going to change. we're-"

"mom, i know it's still frowned upon and i know i'm going to be judged for this, but i know who i am. i don't like boys and i can't force myself to like them. please, mom don't look at me any differently. i'm still-" momo interrupted.

"momo!" her mother yelled, making her stop her ranting. "momo, baby.." she cooed, wrapping her arms around her daughter. "you... you're gay?" she asked.

momo stared at her mom with her mouth open for a few moments before answering. "yeah.." she said quietly.

her mother smiled slightly. "i'm glad you told me, and i support you, but that's not what i'm talking about." she said.

momo's face got hot. "you're not?" she asked.

her mother shook her head. "momo, we have to move."

momo's heart fell. she instantly thought of sana. "what?" she asked, her voice barely but a whisper.

"your father got a job far away from here. a better one. it'll give us a better life. i don't want to do it momo, but i have to." she said, grabbing momo's hands. "for us." she finished.

tears filled momo's eyes and then they began to fall down her face. "mom.." she whined.

"i know, sweetie." she comforted, wrapping her arms around her daughter.

what was she going to tell sana? she had promised her best friend that she would never leave her. and that's exactly what she had to do. "when are we leaving?" she asked.

"next week." her mother whispered into her hair. she kissed the top of her head. "i'm so sorry, momo."

"it's okay." momo lied. "its okay.."

her mind was racing. what was she going to tell all her friends? she felt like she was finally free after coming out to sana, and now she would have to leave, leaving everything behind and going to a new place and basically starting over. her mother comforted momo for a few more minutes and then left her alone, and momo cried into her pillow until she fell asleep.
