the next few days were somewhat normal. sana didn't go home, and momo figured out the feeling she got when she was close to sana. she didn't get the same feeling as the night of the first school day, but she wanted to. she also noticed her mother was acting weird around her, but she tried to ignore it.

momo invited their friends nayeon and jeongyeon over to work on their first homework assignments of the year. they were sprawled on the floor more focused on talking than working.

sana was resting her head on momo's stomach while nayeon sat on jeongyeon's lap. since momo and sana were a package deal, they liked to keep their friend circle small.

"i was thinking about it the other day," nayeon began. jeongyeon smiled, knowing what she was about to say. "jeongyeon and i think you would make a cute couple."

she finished. momo chuckled nervously. "really?" she asked.

sana didn't get nervous at all. and if she did, she was good at hiding it. "i think so too." she said, moving her head back to look at momo. "why won't you be my girlfriend, momoring?" she whined jokingly. the other two girls joined in, and momo covered her red face with her hands.

"we're just good friends." momo said. sana had now grabbed momo's hands and were fiddling with them.

"yeah, we can see." nayeon said. "we all can." jeongyeon added.

momo stopped smiling. "what do you mean?" she asked.

everyone looked at her. "huh?" nayeon asked.

"what do you mean everyone can see?" momo asked. she admitted to herself recently that she, in fact, was a lesbian. she was never attracted to boys. she was attracted to one girl in particular.

"everyone knows how good your friendship is. i heard some younger girls calling your friendship goals, too." jeongyeon said. "why are you so nervous about it?" she asked.

momo shrugged. "no reason." everyone brushed it off and continued their conversations. nayeon and jeongyeon left a few hours later, and sana stayed for dinner. momo and sana offered to clean the dishes. when it was just them, sana turned towards momo.

"why did you get so nervous earlier? when nayeon and jeong talked about us?" she asked. she sounded genuinely hurt. momo rested her hands in the warm water, taking a break from washing the food from it.

"it's not that i'm embarrassed or anything," momo said, clearing the air. "i'm just..." she looked around to make sure they were alone.

"you can tell me anything, momo." sana said, softly. momo bit her lip. her heart was pounding. it was now or never.

"i think i like girls, sana." momo whispered. sana looked at momo for a second before she started giggling. she dropped her head and continued to laugh while momo looked at her, confused.

"momo.. i know." she said.

momo furrowed her brows. "what?"

sana continued giggling. "i know." she repeated. "it's not obvious to the normal student, but it is to me, because we spend so much time together." sana said, continuing to clean the dish she was previously cleaning. "i thought you were starting to get tired of me."

momo's shoulders relaxed, and she began to laugh too. her big secret wasn't even a secret to her best friend. they finished washing the dishes and sana began to collect her things. "i should probably go home now. it's been 3 days, i'm sure my mom is calmed down." she said. momo noticed that her family never came to look for her.

"okay." momo said. she walked outside with sana and they began walking towards sana's street.

"you don't have to walk with me." she said. momo knew she didn't want momo to come, but sana didn't have a choice.

"i will. i just wanna make sure everything is okay." momo said. she knew not to ask anything further. when they reached sana's house, she could see the silhouette of her mother through the front window. sana turned towards momo.

"thank you, momoring." sana said softly.

"it's not a big deal. if anything happens, you know where to go. we understand." momo said. sana nodded, blinking slowly.

she grabbed momo's hand and pulled her closer, kissing momo's cheek. "you're not the only one." she whispered.

she dropped momo's hand and walked inside. momo stood outside for a few moments. her face was burning. she started to walk away from sana's house, thinking about about what sana said. what did she mean?

she got back to her house and went straight to her room, laying on her bed and trying not to think about sana. she started to drift off to sleep when she finally realized what sana meant. momo wasn't the only different one.
