Today would be my first day back at school since last week and I could already feel the homework pile up the teachers were about to conjure. I turned off the alarm I had set and quickly got up before I would fall back asleep. I threw on a pair of black leggings and a baggy white Ron Jon Surf Shop tshirt and proceeded to add my white nike airs to the mix. 

I threw in my headphones and quickly walked out the door with my bag. Ethan came outside shortly after me and followed behind me closely. "You ready for school Anabelle?" I nod and continue walking, pulling one of my headphones out of my ear. "I guess. Can't get much worse than it already has ya feel?" 

He nodded and gave me another apologetic look, "Ethan, you can stop giving me the apology glance. It's over now. In the past." 

He just nodded and kept walking until eventually we made it to the school, Amanda already sitting on the edge of the stairs, waiting for Ethan to take a shot at me. 

But he didn't, he kept walking past her and brought me to my locker, completely ignoring what Amanda had to say. "Ethan, what are you doing? Come with me baby, she's corrupting you." She pulled at him and he whipped his arm out of her grip, ignoring her even more than before. 

I could tell he was struggling. His face was red and it seemed as if it was taking everything in him not to literally bash her brains in. 

"You seriously aren't starting to like this freak, are you?" Amanda looked at me and then at Ethan in disbelief. "Oh my god, Ethan, baby. Is everything okay? Is Grayson forcing you to be nice to her?" 

"Jesus, shit- Amanda! Shut the fuck up would you? Anabelle is an amazing person and maybe if you got that through that thick skull of yours you'd be less of a douchebag. I'm sick and tired of your bullshit. Leave. Me. Alone." 

Amanda scoffed at Ethan and walked away, back to the little posse of hers. She knew exactly what she was going to do, her next plan. She always had a plan, but this time she had to add Ethan to the mix. 

I could sense the world crumbling from beneath me, but I somehow felt at peace with it. I felt at peace with the reality of it all- I wasn't perfect but neither was anyone else. 

I know who I am and who I'm going to be. 

Parker walked up behind me and put her arm around my shoulder, "How's it been so far being back?" I sighed and turned to face her, "I have way too much Geometry homework. How does Mr. Long do this? I was gone for 4 days!" 

She laughed at my sudden burst of frustration as she set her books on her desk. It was now time for our study period, the easiest period of all. 

Except for me. I was stuck doing the bajillion papers I had missed during my 4 days I was gone. 

I scrambled through the papers and soon decided which one I was going to start first. I get two days to complete homework for everyday I was gone, so 4 times 2 is eight. Which means I have until next wednesday to complete my first pile. 

"I can just give you the answers when we get home. We're still hanging out after school, right?" Parker pulls me away from my work and she begins pulling out her phone. "Yeah, thank you Parker." 

"It's my pleasure babe." She laughed quietly and continued looking through the recommended page of instagram. "Anabelle, you gotta look at this! It's so cute!" She shoved her phone into my face and I pushed it away so I could see it more clearly. 

As the video ended I gushed at it, "It was cute. God, I want a baby." 

"You want a baby?" Grayson joined the conversation and I laughed, "Well, not currently. Maybe for like, an hour. But they're cute! You have to admit it." 

Grayson smiled and nodded before sliding himself off of the table he had taken a seat on. We all continued to chat and sit on our phones until the class had ended.
