JACK'S POV
***
I sit still and remember that just a second ago, she was talking to me. It felt as if everybody else had disappeared. Yeah...It was... Magical.
Out of the blue, a small black dog runs pass me.
“Yeah, you go after her dog. Tell her Jack asks for her name.” I call out to the dog who disappears into the crowd. Hopefully, the dog got my message. I stay seated on the grass for a few more moments when somebody stumbles over me.
“Oof!” I get up. That’s twice today. I open my eyes and see a skinny guy on the ground. Wow, am I so awesome that people really fall for me?
“Ouch…” I hear the guy murmuring. I instinctively extend my hand to him and he grabs it.
“Sorry, my fault. You okay?” I begin but he raises his hand. I take a closer look at him. He’s skinny, with reddish brown hair, freckles across his face, a button-nose and wearing a tee shirt with matching dark jeans.
“It’s okay buddy. It was really my fault.” He opens his eyes and grins at me. He's got green eyes.
“You sure you’re okay?” I ask again and he just cracks his neck to the right, which totally catches me off guard.
“Okay then.” I am slowly taking a strong liking towards the guy. “So what were you in a hurry for?” Suddenly, his eyes widen. Oh no! De javu!
“Mother of pancakes and crackers! Dad’s gonna kill me when he finds out I lost Toothless! He ran off with the necklace and that girl – Oh candy wrappers! I gotta go. Thanks for reminding me buddy.” He quickly leaves the scene but not before he pats my shoulders.
“I have no idea what you just said but sure pal. Anytime!” I awkwardly give him a wave. Suddenly, a hand touches my shoulders and I jump in fright.
“If there is anything against you and your dad, I highly suggest that you don’t talk to me!” I cross my arms trying to cover my face.
“There is nothing wrong ‘tween me dad and me, mister.” There’s something weird in this person’s accent. Sort of like Spanish?
“Oh…Sorry. My bad.” I open my eyes and see that I’m talking to a red frizzy hair girl with bright blue eyes. Although her hair is tied up, it still looks like some crazy pompoms, or something. Plus she emits the ‘don’t-mess-with-me-or-else’ vibe. She looks at me with her brows raised.
“Ugh…Do I know you somewhere?” I ask her as I try to rack my brain for an answer.
“No mister. I ain’t seen ya before and same goes fer ya to me.” She answers in a matter of fact tone. Wait...It's Russian, isn't it?
“Yeah. I knew that. Just asking.” I shrug my shoulders. Somehow, I get this feeling that I should now back off from her. “So since I don’t know you and you don’t know me, nice to meet you random red-haired girl. With that over, I’ll be leaving now. Bye.” I quickly walk away when suddenly –
“Where do ya think yer goin mister?” What did I do to deserve this? I stop and look at her who is walking towards me.
“Look random red-haired girl –“ I sigh. I’ve had enough weird encounters for one day and I wasn’t about to be dragged into another one.
