beau sat in the middle of the crowded bleachers staring intently down at the field. devontae sat right beside him and shoveled popcorn into his mouth.

"you know. this was such a good idea. i don't know why we didn't think of this earlier." devontae commented as they watched their rival school play against another team.

austin sat on the other side of beau and scoffed. "yeah and if they catch us scoping them out there's most definitely gonna be an altercation."

devontae rolled his eyes. "who the fuck says altercation. honestly nigga, why are you so fucking weird?"

austin rolled his eyes and began to retort but beau groaned and interrupted him. "can y'all shut the fuck up for one damn second? we're supposed to be studying the plays. i refuse to lose to these assholes again."

both boys huffed in annoyance but silently complied. with both distractions out of the way, beau turned his attention back to the latino boy on the field.

beau couldn't deny how hot ellis looked in his uniform. sweat dripped off his tan body and beau watched as ellis did his best to catch his breath during the fast-paced game.

suddenly the other team called a time out and ellis jogged over to the bench. he stood directly in front of beau's line of vision; beau gulped as he watched ellis take a long drink of water.

suddenly, as ellis came up for air, he made direct eye contact with beau. he looked surprised for only a moment before giving beau an award-winning smile and running a hand through his sweaty hair.

beau did his best not to smile back, but he couldn't contain the smile that responded to the handsome boy.

"who the fuck you smiling so creepily at?" devontae inquired suspiciously. "and why is that faggot looking, like, right at you?"

beau broke eye contact with ellis and quickly frowned. "uh, i was just smiling at that girl down there. she was staring so might as well give her something to stare at."

devontae perked up at the beau's response. "ooh, where she at?" beau pointed uncertainly to a vague group of girls. "um, her?"

devontae huffed. "there's like a shit ton of females down there. is it the blonde one? no, no I bet it's that lil' latina. you love the spicy ones."

beau nodded. "yeah, uh sure. that's her."

devontae looked her up and down appreciatively. "you should hook up with her tonight. it's been a while since you've got some. or at least since you last told me."

austin snorted in disgust. "why the fuck are you so damn interested in his sex life?"

beau interjected before another argument could arise. "we're here to scout anyway. can we make it through the last ten minutes of the game without y'all dickheads acting like dickheads?"

once again both boys complied and beau finally turned his attention back to ellis. at that very moment, ellis gained possession of the ball and expertly weaved in and out of the throng of players with an ease that only comes with an experienced player. as it were nothing, he kicked the ball and it soared past the goalie and into the net before landing in the dark green grass.

a cheer rang through the student section of riverside high and beau felt a spark of heat run through his heart when ellis's eyes sought his after his smooth soccer execution.

it was as if ellis sought beau's approval, so beau gave a small nod of appreciation to the other boy. it seemed to be enough for ellis as he threw a small smile beau's way and continued about the game.
