You could easily say that Anne Shirley is definitely not a usual 16 year old girl. Instead, she's quite the opposite, always in a good way.Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert originally wanted to adopt a boy but when Anne arrived at Green Gables, they both knew she belonged with them. She had been adopted by other families before in the past, but they always turned her back to the orphanage.
Marilla and Matthew had already guessed the reason why, and they were actually right. The girl they introduced in their family liked to talk.
A lot.
She could ramble on about random subjects for entire hours, without any pauses. She loved describing stories she made up to Matthew and he actually really enjoyed listening to her, but Marilla wasn't the biggest fun of that. She also adored reading, she had read endless books that she couldn't even count anymore. Anne had already read more books than a 16 year old would read in their lifetime. Unlike other teenagers, Anne wasn't addicted to her phone, not one bit. She mostly used it to search up words, read articles about things she cared about, and research about which book she's buying next.
Anne was extremely enthusiastic about her new life at Green Gables.
Maybe, just maybe, she'll be able to make a real friend, if she's lucky enough. She had never had a real friend before, and she was very nervous but excited about her first day at Avonlea High. She was sure she's going to do well in most subjects, she didn't worry about that.
What she worried about was the other teenagers' reactions to her. She dearly hoped they would be nice to her and not tease her about her dreadful red hair.
It was the bane of her existence she always thought, although everyone she met secretly wished they had the same extraordinary color on their own head.Anne had a hard time accepting herself and her appearance. She absolutely hated her freckles all over her face and her red hair. She also felt insecure about her small body, although lately her womanly curves had just started showing, and she always wished she was taller and prettier with black and wavy long hair. What she surprisingly liked about her appearance was her eyes, but she always thought they weren't blue enough.
In reality, out of Anne's head, she was actually really beautiful.
Very beautiful.
Her unusual hair made her stand out from everyone else, her freckles covered her skin in a lovely way, and her eyes were prettier than the ocean. She actually had wavy hair, but she had the habit of always braiding it into two plain braids, or putting them in a bun when Marilla had some extra time to make her one in the morning.
It was a rare event if someone happened to see Anne Shirley with her hair down.
I already hate my hair, so why bothering making it look nicer, she always thought in the mornings while making her braids. When Marilla made her a bun, it usually turned into a messy bun during the day, Anne's constant activity couldn't let the bun be what it was. She always moved around and danced while daydreaming but also did many chores around the house to help Marilla. It left Anne with a gorgeous messy bun and little baby hairs around her face, making her look absolutely adorable, but of course she wouldn't be able to see that herself.
Anne usually didn't pay much attention to her outfits or clothing. She actually loved oversized shirts and sweaters because they made her feel the most comfortable. She usually paired them with some jeans. That though, doesn't mean she didn't like skirts or dresses. She adored dresses and she had always dreamt about wearing one to a special event or even prom. She loved the ones which went down to your ankles and were all puffy on the waist.
"Oh Marilla! Isn't today a wonderful day to be alive?" the little teenager exhaled while she looked out the window of Matthew's car. Matthew was driving Anne to her first day of school but the redhead had insisted that Marilla should come with them too. Marilla had gotten to school some days before so she could get Anne's uniform. She had to admit, it wasn't the most comfortable piece of clothing or at least she wasn't used to it yet. She wasn't the biggest fan of tights but at least she liked the skirt.
While she walked in the school building, she noticed people her age, older and younger than her. Everyone had a friend group except a few ones who were minding their own business. Everyone was doing something or going somewhere. Anne couldn't figure out her way to her first class while she was stressing out preparing the perfect speech to say to the first person she meets.
Hello, isn't today a wonderful day?
no, no way.Salutations!
no, that's too far Anne.Good morning! What a rare pleasure to meet you-
"Oh! I'm very sorry for the inconvenience!", she rushed while grabbing her books from the floor. She had bumped into someone she didn't know.
"No worries! Let me help you."
She looked up to see who it was.
It was a guy her age, great. He was wearing a uniform too, obviously. He had gorgeous hazel eyes with the slightest details inside, paired beautifully with his huge black eyelashes. He also had black hair, long enough to form little curls on top of his head and in front of his forehead.
He leaned down to help her, but the girl was already running off.
