"Hey! Hey, guy! Yes, you! Creepy dude in the cavern! What the fuck, man?" She screamed as soon as she saw him. He looked vastly confused, as though English was uncommon to him. When he replied, in fact, it was not in English, or any other language she knew for that matter! His voice sounded like bells! Kaden almost thought she had just sworn at the wrong man, but she saw that his feet did not touch the ground and noticed the recognition on his face. So why did he suddenly not understand her? She had spoken to him fine earlier!
She felt a pang on her chest and reached up to find it was the amulet that caused it. It was very warm to the touch and was shining so bright it almost glowed. Then the room began to spin and Kaden felt her body get overwhelmingly hot, she felt like she may be sick. Her eyes couldn't focus and she couldn't keep her balance, soon enough the ground caught up to her and caressed her face rather without empathy.
"You do not listen very well." The man stated as soon as he saw her stir.
"Wait, I can understand you now? Why are you speaking English now but you sounded like bloody Tinkerbell earlier?" Kaden spat at him as she felt the sore spot on the side of her face that would most definitely bruise soon.
"I don't know what a 'Tinkerbell' is, but I can assure you that I am not speaking, what did you call it- Ingliss? I am not speaking one of your old bastardized tongues. Neither are you. Although it is rather pathetic that the amulet had to give you the language and you passed out upon receiving it. I would recommend learning the tongue of your people, Young one. The amulet's powers are limited, as they are only for a temporary transfer." He spoke to her as though she were but a small child still, Kaden hated that.
"How the heck do you expect me to learn to speak in Bell tingles?" She shouted at him, paying no attention to the splitting headache she had.
"The language of the Mond is not 'Bell tingles'. You will learn it if you wish to live. Outsiders are very rarely accepted here but the moon and waves chose you and so an exception must be made."
Kaden had many questions but she could sense that he was not in the mood to answer them, and so she chose the one she felt that he would answer,
"Chose me for what?"
"To rule, young one." Was all the reply he gave her.
