Kaden woke to a banging on her cottage doors. She jumped out of bed, and ran downstairs to find Her Royal Highness, Queen Flora standing at her glass door.         The Queen's expression quickly melted from angry to shock, reminding Kaden that she had chosen to sleep in only her lacy purple underwear. She ran back up to her room and pulled on the first shirt and pair of pants she saw, then ran back down to allow the Queen to enter.
"Good morning, Your Highness. Please come in! May I get you anything to drink, some tea, coffee, water?" Kaden rambled as the Queen started immediately for the living room area. She sat on the dark wicker chair that faced the window, its teal cushions nearly matched the material of her skirt. She impatiently waved away Kaden's requests and ceased her babbling, motioning for Kaden to sit across from her on a loveseat identical to the chair on which she sat.
"Fae," Her Highness began gently, "I'm sure you're wondering why I came out here today." She paused for just a moment, a mere blink in the grand scheme of time, hardly long enough for a breath, but it was long enough for her to decide her path of approaching the topic at hand. "Well, I am here because there was a meeting held late last night, and well, it was about you. Pray, were you aware that you had three days to become a functioning member of this society?" Kaden nodded, not sure where this was going. "Fae, my dear, this is that day. You have been here three days. Are you ready?"
"No!" Kaden cried out. "It's only been two days! I still have another day! I need just a little more time! I'm not ready! Please..." her voice hitched as tears breached her eyelashes, "Please, don't kill me. I don't want to die. Not again." The Queen sucked in a deep gasp, shock settling over her features.
"Silence child." She commanded, "I did not come to kill you. It is your third day here, since the first was spent in the solution. However, I know that you've had a hard time adjusting to this lifestyle, and so Mitzie and I plead your case and bought you some time." Kaden's face warped as shock overtook her.
"How long do I have?" She mumbled.
"We secured your life for another month. So I expect you to pay attention in my class from now on, and apologize to Mitzie. You seem to have really hurt her." She stood from the chair. "Now, I shall leave you to the rest of your morning. Your classes begin again bright and early tomorrow, and Fae?"
       "Yes, Your Highness?"
"Please wear more than your undergarments, even if they are very pretty." The Queen smirked at Kaden as she nodded and went about her way.
