Floaty nodded his head and four women came to her sides. They stared at her and Kaden felt herself go weightless as she was lifted off the ground. They carried her this way in utter silence for several minutes, until they entered what looked like a spa except there was almost an amphitheater setup around it. All the seats were filled as the women took her behind a screen and began ripping her clothes off.
"What are you doing?" Kaden asked, mortified. None of their mouths opened but she heard their voices all the same.
"Removing the last of your mortal dressing before you enter the Mond solution."
"Mond solution?" She pried.
" It will transform you into a true Mond. The process should take no more than three days, if you are willing and comply." They spoke as one in her mind. Kaden felt chills rip down her spine, and hated her curiosity for making her ask any more questions.
"What if I am not?" She asked shakily as the last of her clothes were destroyed.
"Then you die. Either the solution will kill you or we will." Kaden gulped down her heart as it tried to beat away. Surely she wouldn't die twice, right?
They placed her arms behind her back and their minds locked them there. She was in a mentally inflicted shackle and chain setup as they forced her to walk before the crowd, completely nude. No one said a word. Not one. They walked her to the edge of a pool of glowing blue liquid that appeared to be just slightly thicker than water. That's where they stopped her.
Floaty appeared in front of her,
"Are you ready, young one?" He asked her. Kaden felt herself shaking her head in opposition, tears forming in her eyes. Her voice sounded foreign to her ears as she heard it say,
"I'm as ready as I'm going to be, I guess." Then he formed a bubble around her and lifted her into the air. The bubble rotated to where Kaden found herself laying on her back, and it began to sink.
It sunk into the solution and was coated completely in it. Floaty looked over the edge of pool at her and mouthed, "Good luck, Fae", then the bubble disappeared and became a hard cover over the pool.Kaden was reminded of drowning, except that at least with the boat she had a chance to get one last deep breath. Almost instantly she was out of air. She felt that horribly familiar burning feeling again. She knew she either had to breathe or die...again. Something kept telling her to just give in, just breathe in the solution and see what happens. If she dies in this pool, at least they won't kill her more brutally. She clenched her fists and braced for it as she opened her mouth and gasped in the cold, thick solution. It filled her mouth and she swallowed it down before giving it another thought.
It seized her chest, and a fierce pain tore through her. She shook violently as her lungs begged to be free of their burden and filled with oxygen. She felt like crying but didn't know if the tears fell into the thick layer of solution that was surrounding her, killing her. She regretted everything. She regretted following Floaty, she regretted leaving her house, she even regretted taking Leigh out on the boat on that fateful day that led to her demise.
Her ears burned and her cheeks felt flushed. A second wave of spasms tore through her body, her heart stuttering and fluttering in her chest. It faltered. She knew she was going down. She knew it was over. She had failed. A third wave hit her, shaking through her violently. Just as she was giving in, she'd decided she was done, the hard cover at the surface broke and she sat up.
