"To rule, what?" Kaden yelled, "What the hell is this? What are you? What am I? What is going on?"
"Silence, Young one. You speak too much and learn too little. Too many questions are being asked when the answers are all around you." He replied.
"Fucking Yoda-ass, fucking never-give-a-straight-answer-ass, fucking floaty-floaty-ass, fuck you, you...fuck." She muttered out her frustration and immediately imagined her younger brother rolling on the floor laughing because he always said she couldn't use those words to save her life. Regardless, she looked around her to see if she could find what answers Floaty, as she decided to call him, had been referring to. All she saw was the glowing drawings on the cavern walls, then she suddenly remembered the drawing that showed her demise. She shivered at the memory, but also began paying closer attention to the other drawings. She saw a gold sun appear beside her, and she tapped it quick before it could disappear.
The air grew cold. Very cold. As though all of the life had been sucked out of the world and all that remained was cold, brittle wind. Kaden looked around her and all she saw was the sky and in the midst of it, a Prima Donna on opening night, was the moon. It was beautiful, shining bright over the land, as though it were proud to be seen. Kaden gasped as she saw what appeared to be the shadow of a chariot polishing the moon during its journey across the sky as the night went on.
Her amulet grew warm & she was provided with an image of the chariot driver. She was a beautiful woman, her skin was a moon beam, her hair was raven like the night sky, her dress was a million twinkling stars, and upon her head sat a small, glowing crescent moon ending just above her eyebrow. She was Selene, goddess of the moon.
Suddenly, the scene changed, and Selene was an elderly woman, teaching small children to ride the night sky and polish the moon. These children grew to fill her spot as she settled into a family lifestyle on Earth and eventually became a small star twinkling proudly as her pupils carried out her works.
However, her replacements were not gods, as they remained all too mortal, and thus they continued dying and passing the tradition on to their offspring. One of the offspring saw that her predecessor was unfit for the position, and set out against her family's wishes, to find a better alternative. She stumbled across a small pond during the night, where a group of dainty creatures with skin as pale as the moon and a dialect of tingling bells sat enjoying the night sky. She sat amongst them, her moon crown earning her their respect and curiosity. She named them the Mond, which is German for "Moon", and bestowed upon their queen the moon crown. These creatures of the night were taught to drive the moon carriage and polish the moon, and their magic made it ever brighter. The mortal's family saw this and were filled with rage. They slaughtered her under an oak one night as she watched the Mond fulfilling her work.
News of this reached the Mond's queen, and she ventured to the oak, and picked the smallest leaf she could find and enchanted it. The leaf, now golden, would serve as a memorial for the mortal who had given them the moon. Whoever possessed it would be saved from mortal danger and inducted into the Mond and would be considered first if a leader was needed.
The scene ended and Kaden sat down on the cavern floor, overwhelmed. She was filled with even more questions but knew better than to ask them.
"So now I am to become the Mond Queen." She spoke, mystified.
"Indeed," Floaty stated simply.
