Kaden woke after an even longer night of trying in vain to study her textbook, already anxious for nightfall. She found herself wishing for time to pass sooner, and dreamily staring off into space. Her lessons were a particularly impossible struggle, as they tried to reign in her attention, only to have her slip back into her reverie after a shockingly short time period.
Her Highness, Queen Flora threw books, pens, pencils, markers, and anything else she could get her hands on, but Kaden was not to be deterred from her pleasant daze today. Even Mitzie failed as she relentlessly pushed Kaden to fight back, but Kaden stepped into the river and sealed herself off in a solid revolving orb of water. Mitzie tried as hard as she dared but was unable to get to Kaden, and eventually just surrendered at an utter loss. Mitzie was hurt by Kaden's actions, but hoped that maybe tomorrow would be better.
When Kaden finally heard the broken young girl depart, she came down. She practically flew as she ran to the woods' edge. She realized that her lessons had been cut short, and so she was early and would have to wait for Veronica to arrive. She sat under one large oak, buzzing in anticipation, as she waited for the veil of night to come and begin her tour with Veronica. Several hours elapsed with Kaden sitting under the large tree, and she eventually laid down in the soft grass.
"Oh, my dearest Schatzi, that is not a bed." Kaden heard the familiar voice tutting softly from a hidden location. She could not see her, but she knew Veronica was near. "If you're really that tired, perhaps we should reschedule. I'd hate to keep you up if you need your rest."
"No, I am fine, really! I just dozed off, because I have been here for a while." Kaden replied sheepishly, as she began playfully searching for Veronica.
"A meadow is no place to let your guard down, Schatzi." Veronica teased. Kaden felt a tap on her left shoulder, but turned to find nothing. This action immediately resulted in a mirrored account on her right shoulder, but once again Kaden saw no one. A small tap on her head provided all the answer she needed as she watched a small acorn bounce to the grass below. Kaden waited for a few seconds then snapped her head upwards, gazing intently into the boughs of the tree to find Veronica lazily stretched along one, her hand full of acorns she picked as ammunition. She hopped down with a light giggle, and began peppering Kaden with the acorns as Kaden ran evasively.
Veronica chased Kaden into the trees where she stopped at a giant, low-lying cloud. Veronica climbed up onto it and patted a spot next to her, Kaden shakily climbed on, and they set out on an adventure that was romantic and magical, holding promise for more in the future. It was a wonderful night that Kaden would never forget.
