"Excuse me! Excuse me! Detective Jeon" Jungkook shouted as he made his way through the crowd of civilians, holding up his badge to prove to the officers that he was a detective. After being approved, Jungkook stepped over the yellow tape and walked over to the crime scene.
"She was murdered in plain sight" Detective Kim acknowledged as he made his way to Jungkook leading him to the body.
A dead woman was lying on the floor, covered in blood. Her skin was now pale and blue as she's been kissed by death.
"What happened?" Jungkook asked, examining the body that laid lifeless in front of him.
"She was walking back from work and took a short cut through the alley where she was mugged" Teahyung answered. "And there's more" Teahyung said as he turned the woman over to reveal her back.
The words "you're getting closer" were carved into her back. Jungkook flinched at the sight. "It's the same killer you've been tracking for years"
"You're getting closer" Jungkook repeated to himself wondering what the killer had meant. "He's sending us a message but why?"
"I'm not sure, but this time he was being sloppy with his kills" Teahyung exclaimed as he pulled out his iPad. "The surveillance camera had caught him in action"
The video on the iPad showed a woman get strangled by a hooded figure. Compared to her petite, he was bigger and much stronger. Once the woman stopped struggling and was now lying still, the hooded figure looked up at the surveillance camera but his hood was low enough to cover his face. Although Jungkook couldn't see the face he could tell the hooded man had on a evil smirk. He pulled out his knife to cut into the woman's back. He then ran and disappeared in the distance when he completed his kill.
"He wasn't being sloppy" Jungkook said as he replayed the video to get any details he had missed "he wanted to get caught, he wanted us to see him in action, he wants me to play his game and find him that's why he left the message!"
"But why reveal himself now after all these years?" Teahyung asked scratching the back of his head.
"Maybe the killer is closer to us then we thought" Jungkook answered looking back at the dead body.________________
Jungkook headed home after a long night shift at the office. He and Detective Kim spent all day replaying the video of the killer over and over, and reviewed over every clues they could possibly find. They had checked other surveillance cameras but the hooded man was no where to be found, he only showed himself when he wanted to be seen. But nothing made since, but at least they weren't empty handed and that gave Jungkook hope to keep trying.
On his way to his apartment door, he spotted his neighbor sitting out on his front porch staring off into the moon. He wore a black hood, black jeans, black shoes, mostly all black except for his blonde hair that glowed under the moon light.
Jungkook hesitated to go over and consult him about what happened at the cemetery. "W-were you by any c-chance at the cemetery this afternoon?" he stuttered as the cool air entered his throat.
"I was" replied back a husky voice with a heavy Busan accent.
"So were you following me?" Jungkook asked ready to take out his gun if anything became out of control.
"Relax detective" Jimin replied noticing how cautious Jungkook was. "the cemetery is a common place to visit when you have lost somebody you care deeply about, and coincidentally we both happened to be there at the same time."
"So why did you run?"Jimin ,whose full attention was now on Jungkook, crossed his leg over the other " because I was at the cemetery with a guy who had a gun in his possession, why wouldn't I run?" he giggled while eyeing at the gun in Jungkook's pocket.
A confused look came over Jungkook's face, he wasn't sure if this suspicious guy was lying or telling the truth.
"It's a good day Detective, but not good enough to die" Jimin chuckled running a hand through his silky hair.
Leaving Jungkook speechless, Jimin disappeared back into his home._____________
"STOP!! STOP!! Please!!" The boy begged as electricity ran through his body, stinging every inch of his skin. His fingers gripped on the chair, digging his nails into the cushion of the arm rest. Screaming in pain as he got electrocuted, the pain seemed to never end. He was in hell, actually living in hell for as long as he could remember. His screams echoed through the whole building, but no one cared to bother saving him.
"That's enough!" A man in a white coat demand, leaving the boy to heavily breathe as he tried to catch his breath.
"Now the next patient" the man ordered stepping towards a scared young boy in another electrocuted chair.
"Please don't let them hurt me Jimin hyung" the boy cried to his friend.
"NOOO!!! NOOOO!!!" Young Jimin yelled as he watched his friend get electrocuted."NOOO!!" Jimin woke up screaming in tears. He was heavily breathing as his sweat made his blanket stick to his bare skin. The beating of his heart filled the silent void in his room, it felt as if his heart was gonna burst out of his chest. It was all just a nightmare, a nightmare of a memory that haunted him every night. And every night it was the same nightmare or rather memory that repeated itself over and over about that place he wanted to forget. And every night the dream felt more real as if he was there again.
Jimin checked his phone and saw that it was 3:35 am. The man sighed as he got out of bed and walk into his bathroom. The cool air stung his bare chest and the cold floor attacked his feet, but he didn't mind the pain. He splashed cold water on his face and took out some sleeping pills from behind the cabinet. Jimin turned and faced the mirror to see his reflection. A young man with sadness in his eyes stared back at him, a young man with secrets and a heartbreaking past. Jimin stayed in that state for a moment before chugging the pills down his throat and returning to bed to catch some sleep.
