Clothing Department

"Where are we going?" I sighed.

Luke dragged me racing through the aisles,

"To go get something."

He sounded so enthusiastic about the simple notion of "getting something."

Finally we came to a stop in front of the women's clothing department.

Luke looked over at me, "I thought you might want to put on something that's more comfortable."

I looked down at the tight bodycon dress that I was wearing and frowned,

"Unless you want to go naked of course," Luke smirked.

I sarcastically laughed, "Ha. Ha. Ha. You're so funny Luke."

He walked a few steps closer to me and I backed away from him until my body was against a mirror outside of the dressing rooms.

I nervously stared down at the sandy-colored tile of the floor.

Luke took the last stride towards me and leaned one of his arms against the wall, near my head.

He leaned in and put his lips right next to my ear, softly grazing my skin as he whispered,

"Does it seem like I'm joking?"

As he spoke his other hand came to my waist and I held my breath, not even daring to answer his question.

"Something got your tongue in a twist, princess?" He leaned closer, pressing his lips lightly up against my neck.

I stammered out, "Something like th-that."

Then I suddenly felt the sense of deliria quickly fade and I moved away from Luke and the wall.

"Luke, I really am not feeling up to spending a night with you."

Luke took a step back, "Why not?" he pouted.

It was so blatantly obvious, "I'm on my period remember."

Luke rocked back and forth on his heels, his cheeks flushing as I mentioned my "lady problem."

"Oh yeah right."

He hesitated before speaking up again,

"Do you wanna go get like Advil or something for, ya know, cramps or whatever?"

I tried to hold back a giggle at his complete awkwardness whenever he mentioned anything to do with periods, but a smile broke through eventually.

"What?" Luke inquired.

"Did I say something? Is it my hair?" He sweated out.

I giggled a bit more, "It's nothing."

"No," Luke immediately responded, "It's clearly something."

"Don't worry about it." I called out as I walked over to the clothing rack.

Then a worried expression flashed over Luke's face as I put a hand over my lower abdomen and stopped walking as a cramp overcame me.

"Emmy are you okay?" he walked over to my side quickly.

I stood up a bit straighter and said confidently, "I'm fine Luke. See? All better," i quickly flashed him a small smile.

"We can get clothes later, let's go get Advil for you now."

I knew I should probably do what Luke suggested, but my stubborn side got the better of me and instead I respond with a simple, "I'm fine."

Luke grabbed my hand and started leading me away,

"No," he said firmly, "We're going now."

With that he pulled me away to a random aisle and immediately found Advil.

"We can pay for it tomorrow," he gently said and passed the small container over to me.

"Thanks," I muttered graciously.

We stayed silent as I opened the lid to the container and popped two of the small, round, pinkish pills in my mouth.

"Do you really not want to spend the night here?" He asked as if he were talking to a small child.

I thought for a second, "Yes, I would rather not spend a night here."

He paused again, "I think I may have a way for you to get out."

I looked at him with interest now.

"Follow me."

He stood up once again extending his hand towards me.

"Thanks," I mumbled, taking the offer at hand, literally.

We approached the door to the back room slowly and in complete silence.

A big sign in bold black letters that said, "EMPLOYEES ONLY," was on the front of the grey swinging doors.

Luke pushed through the big doors holding one open for me to walk through and then we continued our pace to the very back.

At the very back was a small door with a tiny window. If I stood on the tips of my feet I could barely peer through the window to see a dark narrow alleyway leading to the parking lot.

Luke walked up to the door and reached for the doorknob and slowly it turned without coming to a jerky halt.

Surprisingly the door swung open with an eery screech as it's hinges bent.

"Do you need me to walk you out or anything?" Luke finally spoke up.

"I'm fine," I replied.

"Are you sure? It's pretty dark out there." Luke cocked his head to the side a bit confused on why I wouldn't need his help.

I walked closer to the door, "I'll be ok Luke. It's less than 200 feet to my car."

Luke sighed a bit at my stubbornness, "I'll be in here. If something happens just yell for me and I'll come out. I have to close up."

"I'll be ok Luke," I said taking a step out the door.

Luke started to shut the door behind me dragging it out, hoping I would change my mind and accept his offer to walk me to my car.

"Bye Luke."

"Bye Emmy."

I pulled the door shut behind me and started walking down the skinny alleyway that had the bare light from the moon shining in.
