Day 1. New college, new people, hopefully better life. Today is a good day. First day at a new college. It will be better than good, great.
"Alexandra, why are you not dressed yet?!" Amelia exclaims.
"You woke me up three hours early. I have time. Let me finish breakfast then I will get dressed." I say to her. She was so eager that she woke me up at 4 and would not let me go back to sleep.
I go to my side of the room and get my clothes off my bed then get a shower.
"Happy? I am ready." I say to Amelia.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door. I wonder who that could be. Doubt it is Newt cause he doesn't get up unless he has to and it is two hours before college starts.
I open the door and Mason comes into view.
"Mason. What are you doing here?" I question.
"I figured y'all would be up early for y'alls first day so I decided to drop by and see if you want to go to the diner down the street." Mason says with hope.
"Uh, sure. But, I'll just get a Latte, I just ate. Amelia, want to go?" I ask.
She just gives me a weird look and shakes her head no.
Mason and I walk to the little diner and both order Lattes then we sit at a booth.
"So, are you excited for your first day?" Mason asks.
"Yeah, I am." I answer.
"What are you majoring in?" He questions.
"Photography. I love taking photos of nature. What are you majoring in?" I answer.
"Mechanic." He answers.
"Nice. What got you into being a mechanic?" I ask.
"I used to help my father in his shop." He answers.
"Oh, why don't you help him anymore?" I question.
"Oh, uh, he got in a car wreck. He died." Mason answers and bows his head down. Sudden guilt washed over my figure.
"Oh, I'm so sorry. If it makes you feel better, I lost my parents also." I say.
"Not really, but I am so sorry." Mason says.
"Well, it is time to head back. My class starts in ten minutes." I say getting up.
We walk back to the college in silence. It's not an awkward silence though. It's actually nice.
"Well, here is your class, I'll see you later." Mason says.
Well, here goes nothing. Please let this be a great day.
