"Round two," Robotnik says over the speakers. His voice echoing through the ring. It has only been a day since the last fight. I think. Time can be hard to tell here. The one single window in my room didn't always help with keeping track. Especially since everything has been dark and overcast lately.
I was tossed in by the robots again. I roll on the dirt but quickly got to my feet. I glare at the closing door as I wiped dirt of my face with the back of my knuckles.
"I am capable of walking by myself, thank you," a female voice scowls, annoyed.
I turn to face the voice across the ring. There were three jackals this time. Two males and one female. She has her silvery white hair tied back in a high ponytail. She walked into the ring, gloved hands in fists. She was obviously athletic, muscles tense under her sleeveless camo jacket and ripped maroon leggings.
Another walked in beside her. Stripes along his arms and sides. His short, messy hair and large ears were held together on top of his head with a green bandana. There was a large slash, a scar over his nose. His yellow eyes seemed more cheerful and hyper than the others. Immature? Like he wants a challenge.
The last of the three merely shot a glare and growled at a robot and it let go of the canine's arm immediately. This one was slightly more muscular and taller than the others, though they all looked the same age. About fifteen or so, but not similar enough to be siblings of any kind. Unlike the other jackals who wore the same black and silver gloves, he wore yellow and black, same with his boots. They were a thick material. Flame resistant? He also wore a blood red bandana around his neck. He easily looked the most threatening out of the three.
I quickly come up with names to keep track of them. Since two of them wear bandanas and a single of one them are female, I'll just refer to them as "Red", "Green" and "girl". It's simple. Red bandana, green bandana, one girl.
"Go!" the doctor orders.
Green raised his fists, bouncing up and down with energy, though he stayed where he was.
"Okay," he mutters. Green looked at the girl. "Chevron, get her when she's focused on us. Try to learn any fighting patterns if that doesn't work."
Green was whispering, but with my hearing ability having been tampered with by Robotnik, I could make out most of what the jackal said.
I learned that girl had a name. A part of me didn't want to know this. When I learn their names, that makes them a Mobian to me, someone who has a life.
She nods, raising her fists. "Got it."
For the seemingly less mature one, Green seemed like he was in charge. Green looks to his right, at Red, who's arms were crossed as he stared at him.
"Uh..." Green trails off as Red uncrosses his arms and punches his fist into his other hand, cracking his neck. "You know what to do. Go!"
The girl, "Chevron", dashes away while Red charged right at me. Green was right behind him, running zig-zags, a smirk on his face despite the severity of the situation. Green was treating this like some fun training simulator. One where the punches hurt and your injuries may have lasting consequences.
They didn't know I heard their, but I did, thanks to Robotnik's enhancements. Not that this really mattered. They were going to win. I couldn't even beat one by myself. What hope do I have against three? The only way I can have any chance is to keep an eye on all of them. Take as few hits as I can, keep maneuverability on my side and hope that Robotnik doesn't change the game.
