"And you're sure you don't want me to stay Chris?" Scarlett questioned for what Chris thought was the hundredth time. Chris rolled his eyes playfully before lightly pushing her out the door.

"I'll be fine Scarls it's just for half a day," Chris reminded.

"Alright, but I set some reminders on your phone in case you forget the list of things you read to do," Scarlett continued.

"I know, I know thank you for that but someone's going to be late," he reminded her. Scarlett nodded before kissing him and saying one last goodbye to the twins.

Once she was out of view Chris turned to his children, "alright James, Natalie today's gonna be all about us. Are you guys with me?" Chris asked his children who only peered up at him curiously.

"I take your silence as a yes, let's go,"

Chris found himself laid back on the rocking chair in the nursery sitting perfectly still. Only now did he realize managing two kids alone was a hassle. Scarlett had prepared two bottles of milk for not Natalia and James but their stomachs were like black holes, as Chris described them. Now he couldn't move or else he risked setting off the alarm that was his kids.

Chris was about to close his eyes and relax when he heard the doorbell. And as expected the twins were awoken by it.

"Hey it's okay guys, daddy's got to get the door really quickly alright?" Chris replied before delicately placing his children into their cribs.

"I'm coming," he mumbled as he approached the door ready to say some very colorful words to whoever disturbed him. His words died in his throat when he realized it was his mother.

"Mom? What are you doing here?"

"To see my grandkids of course," she replied and Scott appeared behind her.

"I tried to tell her Chris," Scott piped in.

"You've just woken them up so I suppose you can come in," Chris replied while his mother playfully slapped his arm.

He guided them towards the nursery where the dogs were huddling around the cribs where the twins lay crying.

"Oh my poor grandkids is Chris being a bad father?" His mother questioned as she picked up Natalia and handed her to Scott who tried to hand her back.

"Hey! I'm a great father thank you very much, you just dropped by at a bad time," Chris reminded.

"Scott don't be such a baby and carry the baby," his mother scorned earning a laugh from Chris.

It took much longer than expected to calm the twins down because apparently they didn't like being woken up from their nap. Chris's mother sat still as she silently humming a rhyme to James.

"Chris?" She called silently. Scott had warmed up to Natalia and was taking a nap with her on the spare chair. Chris perked up at his name and hummed in response.

"He's got your eyes, they both have your eyes," she replied with a smile.

Their eyes were the first thing he noticed when he laid eyes on the twins. It made his day to see their shining blue eyes look up at him in wonder. But other than that he noticed other features about them the like the tuft of blonde hair the two of them shared. The small but perfect smiles they wore and above all else the striking resemblance to the person he adored.

"Yeah they do don't they?"
