Scarlett tried her best the control her erratic breathing but on a day like this it was almost impossible. She'd been with Chris for as long as she can remember but today was so important to both of them. They would officially be married to each other and that was overwhelming for her.
Thinking back on it now, Scarlett couldn't help but think her irrational thoughts. She'd been hurt before, badly, and she wasn't going to let just anybody into her life again. She couldn't take another heartbreak and she wouldn't ever have to because of Chris.
It was always Chris. He had been there for her every step of the way, through terrible decisions and the occasional good ones, he stood by her side. Despite loving her for quite some time, Chris kept his distance until she was ready and not once did he give up. Scarlett always admired his dedication because she knew she wasn't easy to catch.
She also knew Chris like she knew her own mind. Which is probably why she wasn't afraid today, if she knew Chris, and she did, she knew that he would make this day even more magical for both of them.
When it was time to walk down the aisle with her arm linked to Roberts, she wore the biggest smile upon seeing him. Although at first he was looking away from her, a pit grew in her stomach and as he turned around and her heart fluttered. Chris was crying. Although his face was scrunched up in what appeared to be an awed smile she couldn't help but get a warm and giddy feeling in her stomach. A feeling Chris knew all too well.
She tried to grasp in every detail of the entire scene in fear she might forget it one day but one look at Chris' eyes and she knew there was no way in heck she'd be forgetting this day any time soon.
The day went by in a meaningful blur, primarily because some events where more important than others. But she could never forget the moment they both uttered their vows, she could never forget that shortly afterwards they sealed their promises to each other with two small but ever meaningful words, "I do."
