Chapter 5

Shadows P.O.V

I watched over Sonics unconscious body as it lie in the bed. He's been out cold since this morning. I hear someone come up behind me.

"Shadow, it's 11:30, everyone is already asleep and you should be too." It was Rouge.

"Then why aren't you already sleeping?" I asked coldly.

"Cause. I like to fly around for a little bit. Especially when it's a full moon." She said.

'Full moon?' I thought to myself.

"It's a full moon tonight?" I ask her

"Well yeah? Thought you knew?" I then think for a moment and remember what Sonic said,

Flashback

Shadow: So what is this place?

Sonic: This is where I first got to land. This is what my species call a moon pool. When there's a full moon, we come here to replenish our strength or powers. And see that hole over there under the water?

Shadow: Yeah.

Sonic: Its another entrance or exit. Whichever one you prefer to call it. It leads straight to the Ocean.

Shadow: Cool. Is there anything else that I should know?

Sonic: In time you will know.

End of Flashback

"That's it!" I yell as I go into the room and pick up Sonic bridal style.

"What's it?! Shadow put Sonic back down! What are you doing?! Your going to make him worse!!" She yells at me, while following me to outside and happening to wake up the others.

"What's going on?!"

"Whats with all the yelling?!"

Tails and Amy , in that order, asked/yelled as we all reach the beach.

"Shadow has gone insane! He just picked up Sonic and started carrying him him out here!" Rouge said.

"I know how to help him!" I retort.

"No! You're going to make him worse than what he is now!"

"No I'm not!" With all the yelling, Sonic stirs.

"Shut up! He waking up!" I yell. Everyone then looks to Sonic. He opens his eyes which are half lidded.

"Sha..dow?" He asked weakly.

"Yes I'm here!"

"The...po..ol...." He struggles to say. Everyone was confused.

"What are you talking about? There's no pool anywhere around here. And besides he can't swim and is terrified of the water." Tails chimed in. I ignored him,

"Take.... me..... to... the...... mo..on....pool..." Is all he manages to tell me before he passes out again. Everyone but me was completely lost.

"What the hell is a moon pool?" Knuckles asked. I looked up at the sky and noticed that the moon would be over the volcano soon.

"There's no time to explain! We have to go now! Sonic doesn't have much time!" I yelled. They had no idea what I was talking about, and I knew that, but they all nodded anyway and we headed to the cave.

We reach the caves land entrance,

"Tails and Knuckles, I need you two to go in first so you can catch Sonic at the bottom. Be careful though, it's slippery." They nodded and both went down. They didn't heed my warning and both fell hard onto the sandy ground that was inside,

"Damnit Knuckles! Why did you push me?!"

"Cause you weren't going fast enough!"

"Fuck you!"

"I knew you were gay!!"

"Can you two catch Sonic now?!" I yell down the hole they went through. They said yeah, so I sent Sonic down as carefully as I could.

"Got him!" They both yelled. Then me and the girls came down afterwords.

"What is this place?" Amy asked in amazement. The rest of the group looked the same. I ignored the question and picked up Sonic and took him to the pool.

"What are you doing!?" Yelled Tails. I ignored him again as I hopped into the pool with Sonic in my arms, thankfully I found a shelf I was able to stand on. The group came around the pool just as I set Sonic in the water. He then began to glow a light blue color just as the moon came over top the volcano.

"What's happening?!" Asked Knuckles as we noticed the water bubbling.

"Shut up will ya!" I yelled. The moon then passed by the top of the volcano and Sonics glow fadded along with the bubbling water. Revealing his true merhog form. The whole gang gasped, except for me. Sonic then began to stir once more.

Sonic P.O.V

I felt that my power was restored. I wasn't too weak anymore and it felt a whole lot better. I opened my eyes to see Shadow holding me in the pool. I then look around to see everyone else with shocked faces. That's when I realized that they are seeing me in my merhog form. My face pales.

"You feeling better?" Shadow asks me as he allows me to swim out of the hold.

"Yeah. Much better thanks. Would be even better if YOU DIDN'T FUCKING EXPOSE ME!" I yelled the last part while pointing at him.

"Its not my fault! One they insisted to come and two I needed help getting you down here Damn it!!"

"Shit!" Is all I could say as I splashed the water with my fists. I swim to Shadows side and lay my arms on the side of the natural pool with my head in one of my hands,

"I have explaining to do..... don't I?" I ask as a joke.

"Explanations.....NOW!" Amy says sternly. I flinch as both of my ears go flat onto my head. I sigh,

"Ok ok. Don't have to be harsh." I say.

"Well..." asks Rouge with crossed arms.

"Fine! I'm what people call a merhog And this is my real self or form or whatever..... ok." I say. Guilt runs through me, making me look down at the sand on the ground their standing on,

"So that's why you hated water!" Tails said, already putting the pieces together.

"Why didn't you tell us?" Knuckles asked.

"Cause I was scared. Scared that you all would either abandon me or send me to a government science lab to be dissected and studied."

"We would never do that to you! You're our friend, we would never do that even if you did tell us sooner!" Amy said running up to me, kneeling down and gave me a hug.

"Thanks guys." I'm happy that they know now. I should've known that they would accept me either way.

"So where are we?" Rouge asked. Before I could answer, Shadow answered for me.

"We're in a cave inside a volcano. This place is a powerful place for Sonic and his kind. Which is called a moon pool. It helps regenerate their health and power only on full moons."

"How do you know about this?" Questioned Tails.

"Cause I told him yesterday. But I didn't tell him everything. Which I'm going to tell you in the morning when we come back here." I say to them.

"Ok then. How are you going to get out of the pool?" Amy asked in concern.

"Do you want help or do you want to go out the other way?"

"I'll go out the other way Shadow." Everyone looks at me confused.

"There's an underwater entrance too." I explain. They nod in understanding.

"I'll meet y'all at the beach in a few. I know the land entrance takes a minute to get back to the beach." I tell them. They nod and then I dunk my head under, splash my tail on the waters surface and go through the underwater exit.
