Chapter 8

Shadows P.O.V

It's the day we are supposed to go to save Sonics kingdom. And I wake up to the sound of someone puking. I open my eyes to see Sonic no where near me. I sit up and look in the bathroom and see him hugging the toilet while vomiting the dinner we had last night. I run in and rub his back gently till he finished.

"You ok love?"

"Do I look ok?" He replied to me on a 'what do you think' tone.

"Sorry. I'm worried."

"It's ok Shadow. I didn't mean to snap at you like that." He apologized. I helped him up and started to walk him to the bed when he froze and put his hand over his stomach.

"You think you'll be sick again?" I ask. His eyes went wide and looked at me with a scared expression.

"Shadow. Remember the other night?"

'Why would he be asking about that? What does that have to do with him being sick?' I think to myself

"Yeah, why?

"Did you happen to have a condom on?"

'Now I'm really confused.'

"No. Why would we need one? We're both guys." I say in a confused manner. His look of shock was still there but it intensified. His hand traveled back to his stomach.

"Shadow. There's something I forgot about until now. And I don't know how you're going to take it." I look at him even more confused than what I was.

Sonic P.O.V

As Shadow was taking me to the bed I felt something weird in my stomach. So I stopped and placed my hand on the spot.

'Something moved! Oh no...' my eyes went wide,

"You think you'll be sick again?" Shadow asked me in concern. I think I know what's wrong but I hope I'm wrong.

"Shadow. Remember the other night?"

"Yeah, why?" I feel so bad for this. I can't believe I forgot about this part about being a sea fea. I moved my hand away from my stomach,

"Did you happen to have a condom on?" I asked. Please tell me he did.

"No. Why would we need one? We're both guys."

'Shit!' My eyes went wide again but with fear. My hand went back to my stomach.

"Shadow. There's something I forgot about until now. And I don't know how you're going to take it." He looks at me very confused.

"What is it?"

"You're going to have to sit down for this one." I tell him. He then takes my hand and guides me to the bed so we can sit. I wrap my arm around my stomach as I talk.

"Did I mention how we reproduce?" I asked. Hoping that he would get what I'm trying to say. Once again he looks confused.

"I just assumed it was the same way we do. A male and female ha...." I cut him off,

"Yes that's it! But that's not the only way...."

"What do you mean?" I sigh.

"Some merfolk are like me and you," I start. He nods understanding.

"What I'm saying is that if two males have unprotected..... you know then one of them could..." His eyes went wide and cut me off.

"So they could get pregnant." I nod.

"And since I'm the only sea fea in this relationship..." He then became pale as he got what I was trying to say.

"Sonic? This is something I wasn't expecting." He said.

"Yeah I know. I completely forgot about this part of my species until..." I felt something move again which made me jump in surprise.

"That..." I say afterwords.

"What?" He asked.

"Something moved.... again." I say looking down at my stomach. He looked surprised.

"Already?! But your not even two days in!"

"That's another thing... Pregnancy goes a lot quicker than the normal Mobians does...."

"And how long is that?"

"Instead of the typical nine months it's five." I tell him honestly. His face pales even more.

"What are we going to do?" He asked in concern.

"We will deal with this later. Right now, my kingdom needs saving."

"I'll protect you and our child. No matter what it takes." He says as he moved my arm so he can place his hand there. I smile as tears slide down my face. I lean in and kiss him and he kisses back. We break and then hand in hand walk out of our room.

The gang is already at the moon pool and already have changed into their sea fea forms.

"What took you so long?" Tails asked.

"Just slept in a little too late." I responded right away. I jumped in and transformed into my original form with Shadow right behind me. After we turn, I lead the way to the kingdom with Shadow right by my side. We swam for a few minutes before I felt my stomach flip. I come to a halt.

"Sonic are you ok?" Amy asked with everyone looking at me with concern. I manage to hold back the vomit for now.

"Yeah..... I'm fine." I groan as I hold my stomach. Shadow comes over and looks at me.

"I will be ok." I whisper to him. I can tell that he doesn't believe me. But I don't have a choice.

"Are you sure? You look kinda pale." Knuckles stated. I nod my head,

"Let's just continue on. My kingdom and family is in danger." I say. We continue swimming until we make it to the outskirts of the kingdom and we duck behind a rock.

"Everyone remember the plan?" Everyone nodded and we all split up into teams. Rouge was with Knuckles, Tails with Amy, and then me and Shadow. As soon as everyone left and were out of sight, I vomited.

"Damn!" I say as I catch my breath with Shadow rubbing my back.

"You were waiting for that one to come out weren't ya?"

"Yeah. Didn't want the rest to know about our situation when we have enough to worry about." I feel weak but my determination is enough to keep me going.

"Come on, let's rescue my family!" I say. I then grab Shadows hand and we swim off towards the castle dungeons.
