I woke up next to Chan fairly early the next morning, to a racket of a baby crying and Jeongin panicking.

"MUM HELP IT WONT STOP!"

Chan groaned and rolled over, while I struggled to free myself from the covers.

"Don't go... it's too cold." He mumbled, still half asleep. I chuckled at that and threw him an extra blanket before heading out the door.

Jeongin sat on the couch with Daehwi screaming in his arms, Jisung kneeling infront of them as he tried and failed to feed the child. Seungmin, miraculously, was fast asleep on the other couch, with Felix's radio still in his hand.
I picked Daehwi up and walked around with him, singing softly until he calmed down enough for Jisung to feed him successfully. Dae dozed off after that, and I turned around to see Jeongin passed out on the recliner. I lay the baby on his chest and sat infront of Seungmin.

"Minnie."

He mumbled something in response. I poked his cheek and his eyes fluttered open.

"I... fixed it..." He muttered sleepily, pushing the radio into my hands and dozing off again. I squealed in excitement and placed a greatful kiss on his cheek before sprinting up the stairs to Chan's office. He wasn't there, so I assumed he was still in bed.
I turned the radio on and switched the dial to 'recordings'. There was static, until a deep voice came through.

"Guys? I lost reception, some asshat knocked me out."

"Lixy..." I said sadly to myself, letting the recording play out.

"Whoever it was has left. There's no gunfire upstairs anymore... You've left... I think. I know the rules, you wont come back for me, but Y/n is a softy so maybe that will change something."

The sound of a gunshot rang out of the speaker.

"Holy crap." Felix's voice came through again. He wasn't hurt, and I let out a sigh of relief.

"The guy just fired a blank in the elevator.." Felix continued. "He's coming, I have to go. I'll leave a trail or something. Look after Y/n for me plea-"

Another voice came through the speaker, followed by a crash and more static. The recording ended.

He said he'd leave a trail.

I buried my head in my hands. The police would be on their way to clear up our mess already, and they'd probably sweep up our clues.
I grabbed my phone from the desk.

"Chief."

"Ah Y/n how are you?"

"I'm grand, Chief." I said sarcastically.

"What can I do for you?"

"When clearing up at the hotel, look out for anything that could be a trail. Felix said he'd leave us something to follow."

"I'll let my officers know. Do you want to file a missing persons report while you're on the line?" Jinyoung asked. I could tell he was joking and trying to lighten up the mood.

"I appreciate it Chief, but the boys and I have got this." I replied, as confidently as I could. He told me again that he had my back, and I hung up, resting my head in my hands again. I didn't notice the door open, and I jumped a little when I felt head on my shoulder.

"Seungmin said he fixed the radio." Woojin yawned, and collapsed into the chair beside me. I nodded and pressed rewind on the recording, letting Woojin hear it. He listened intently.

"Pause it." He ordered quickly, just as the unknowned person's voice sounded. He got up quickly and left the room, returning with his laptop. He pulled up a program and recorded the persons voice with his laptop mic. He cancelled out the background noise and turned up the volume.

"I'll get Seungmin to run a voice regognition scan." he said, standing. I nodded. He gave me a look. "You okay?"
I shrugged, not being able to find words. He sat back down and pulled me into a hug, stroking my hair as I buried my face in the crook of his neck.

"We'll find him." He whispered softly. I nodded again, and pulled away to see him smiling softly.

"Yo Woojin get off my girl." Chan exclaimed as he stumbled tiredly through the door. His hair was a mess and stuck out at odd angles. I giggled at the sight.

"Not your girl Channie. Come listen. Woojin get that to Seungmin." I instructed, indicating to his laptop. Woojin nodded and left the room. "And make sure Jeongin eats before he goes to school!" I added.
Chan sat where Woojin had earlier and I played the recording.

"Did you tell Chief to be careful when clearing?" He asked. I nodded. "Are you gonna run a voice recognition scan?" I nodded again.

"Seungmin's on it."

There was a light knock on the door, and I swiveled my chair around. Jeongin poked his head in.

"Can you drive me to school? It's raining and Seungmin's busy." he asked me. I nodded.

"Let me change first, I'll be two minutes." I replied, turning to Chan again. "I'll tell Chief to call you if they find anything."
Chan nodded and I grabbed my phone and headed to my room.

I changed quickly, finding a suitable outfit easily in my all black wardrobe, and jogged down the stairs. Woojin was at the kitchen table eating breakfast, holding Daehwi with one arm. I went to him and kissed the baby boys forehead, before grabbing the car keys from the counter.

"Do I get a goodbye kiss too?" Woojin asked, grinning. I flicked his forehead. He pouted, turning back to his cereal.
Jeongin met me in the hall and I opened the door to the garage. Inside was a newly polished Mercedes that we used mainly for running errands.
I got into the drivers seat and Jeongin sat in the passenger, waiting for me to start the engine.
The drive started off quietly.

"Are you gonna keep looking?" He asked quietly. I nodded.

"We're not stopping until we find him."

There was silence again.

"You don't have to keep calling me 'mum' you know. Felix isn't paying you anymore." I said, purely to break the silence.

"Felix never really paid me to begin with. You're the only mother figure I've ever really had." Jeongin replied. I thought about that for a while, remembering that we'd 'adopted' him from an alcoholic father. He never spoke about his mother.
I drove into the school parking lot and up to the entrance. A few of Jeongins friends were huddled by the door, waiting for him.

"Thanks, mum." He smiled at me before getting out.

"Have a good day, kid."
