Stephen and Ant were huddled together in the school library, desperately trying to concentrate on their studies. As always, they had left their revision for the last minute, amd upon starting it, they realised how much work they actually had to do.
After ages of silence between the two of them, Ant suddenly swore in annoyance and pushed his folder off the table. Stephen winced at the sound as it crashed and spilled papers across the floor. Turning his head slightly, he shot a questioning look at Ant, who had buried his head in his hands.
"What's the point in revising when I'm going to fail?" He mumbled, his voice muffled. "I don't even get half of it anyway."
Stephen raised an eyebrow and leant back on his chair, folding his arms. "You know you could alway ask for help from him." He motioned with his head towards the lone figure by the window, with his head buried deep in a book.
"Who? Declan?" Ant asked, incredulously.
Stephen smirked. "Well, yeah. There's nobody else here, who else could I talking about?"
"Erm... the librarian?"
"The librarian is a she, you idiot!" He reached over and and slapped Ant lightly on the head, who tried dodging his arm.
"Seriously though, go and ask for help if you're struggling." Stephen encouraged. "He is clever. And he's a nice guy."
"Can't you help me?" Ant pleaded.
"No." Stephen said firmly. "I have been helping you and I don't think it's made much of a difference. Go and ask him."
"I can't!" He exclaimed. "I like him!"
Stephen rolled his eyes. "I know that you idiot. That's why you need to go and talk to him."
"NO!!" Ant stubbornly shouted. That earned him a shush from the librarian. Stephen gave him a frown.
"Stop it, Ant. You're being dramatic and you're making a scene." He made a show of looking behind Ant and paused. "And you're attracting attention."
Ant swiveled his head to see what he had been looking at.
It was Dec, looking straight at their table, and as Ant turned around they locked eyes for what seemed like forever. Dec was the one who finally looked away. He gave Ant a small smile befire returning back to his book.
Ant slammed his fist on the table. "That's it," he whispered furiously, shooting death stares at the other boy. "I'm gonna kill him!"
"Or you could just man up and talk to him." Stephen said with a bored expression.
"K-killing is easier..." Ant stuttered, looking down at his lap and fiddling with his fingers.
Stephen suddenly stood up and started packing away. Ant watched him with a confused look. "Where are you going?" Ant asked.
Stephen wordlessly walked past him to the opposite side of the library and set his things down near Dec, who watched him with an equally confused look.
After a while, Ant collected his belongings and slowly walked towards Stephen.
"I hope you don't mind us joining you." Ant said to Dec.
Dec laughed and motioned towards Stephen. "He didn't really give me much choice."
Ant smiled, sat down at the table and rearranged his things. There was silence while everyone got on with their work.
Then, Ant looked up and blurted, "Pleasecanyouhelpmewithmywork?"
Stephen and Dec both looked up at Ant, who was blushing furiously.
"Can you say that again?"
"Please can you help me with my work?" Ant repeated, this time slower.
"Oh yes, of course!" Dec replied eagerly, and Ants face lit up with a huge smile. Dec came over and Ant moved to make space for him. Minutes later, the two boys were engrossed in their work, happily chatting like they'd always known each other. Little did they know that that was the start of something special.

AN//
I just wanted to tell you all about this person on YouTube. They're called Declan Veitch and they post Ant and Dec videos. They have a lot of SMTV chums episodes, and they're also now posting videos from the early SNT shows as well. I've been binge watching them for the past few days and a good thing is that they are all in order.
There's videos of the two of them doing escapologist training and the AvD for that as well. Unfortunately, for some reason both videos don't have any sound, which was sad because I really wanted to watch them. Does anyone know where I can watch them properly?
And for the Ant vs Dec of escapologist, it wasn't really clear who won because the video ends when Ant ran for the buzzer. So could anyone tell me who won for that?
And I've just kind of noticed that Stephen is nearly always the third wheel, not just here but in other stories too. Poor Stephen, I think he's a bit lonely. Looks like we might have to find him a David ;)
