The Immortal killer

Two days had gone by since Logan visited. I lay in bed, some of his words still ringing in my ears: "You're one of the only ones in the world who could kill me if you wanted to." "You're somewhat of a mutant legend. No one has ever heard of such incredible fighting." "Most mutants fear you."
We talked for hours, a lot of it about the mutant part of the hero world. It seemed rather interesting but odd that we had never heard of them.

But how could I, an assassin mortal, kill a fast healing, metal skeleton, immortal? I know I've killed mutants before, but none of them were as strong as him. I held my metal arm up and stared at it as it glinted in the moon light. Was I so numb to it all that I was unaware of my own power? What even am I?

God I hate this thing, I know Steve says it doesn't affect how my friends think of me, but...

Suddenly my thoughts drifted to Steve and I remembered that today was the third day, he was supposed to be back today. I sat up in my bed, suddenly very scared and worried.

Should I go wake up Nat or Tony?
No, no, no, you're just overreacting. He's fine, something probably got delayed. He'll be back tomorrow. Just calm down.

I slowly lay back down and tried to think of anything but Steve.

••••••••••••••

*the next afternoon*
I walked briskly to Nats room and pounded on the door, "Nat! Where the hell is Steve!? He was supposed to be back yesterday!"

She opened her door, her hair messily pulled back, bags under her eyes. I looked behind her to find computer monitors on several different programs.

"I've been up all night trying to find him, Barnes. But, since I've never had to hack a hydra base so far away, I don't really know what I'm doing," she yawned, "So, if you care to help, that would be great."

I pushed past her, this was easy, "Hydra was always so predictable with their encryption, very easy to figure out if you're me," I told her as I slipped into the office chair and started tapping at the keys. In about five minutes, I was into their security system and looked for recent alarms.

"Right there, Berlin," Nat pointed to the screen. I clicked the name and sorted through the security footage. I found Sam locked in a cell. As far as I could tell, an arm was broken and he was severely bruised and bleeding.

"What the hell happened, you guys?" I muttered getting slightly angry.

I switched cameras again until I landed on one placed in a concrete room. In the center was Steve, tied up, beaten, bruised and bloody. His breath was coming in short gasps and one of his eyes looked swollen. Tearing my eyes away from Steve, I saw a man with a long stick connected to an electrical chord. When he touched the stick to Steve's arm, electrical currents courses through his body causing him to violently shake.

My blood boiled. No one hurts my friends, not when I have anything to say about it.

"Nat, I'm flying to Berlin. Be my guide here, I'm going to get them."

"Bucky, you can't just go by yourself-"

I stood and turned towards her, "They will die if I don't leave now. It's easier for you to stay here and have your computers rather than going with me and using the ship's computers. So either you help me by staying here and guiding me, or I go without your help. Make your choice."

She opened her mouth to say something but she stopped herself and only nodded.

"Here, take this. I'll be able to talk to you with it," she stated, grabbing and earpiece out of a desk drawer, "Your stuff is in the armory."
