James 'Jim' T. Kirk x Communications!Reader

Jim rushed around the bridge checking everything was going according to plan. It wasn't. something was wrong the engines and was making the Enterprise fly slightly to the right. "Bridge to engineering. Bridge to engineering. Come in Engineering." You called Scotty. "Whatada want, lass?"

"Figure out what's wrong?"

"If I had figured out what was wrong, I would have told you, lass and the ship wouldn't be bloody well shaking now would it?"

"Need any help?"

"Tell Captain Perfect Hair I need him down here. First officer too."

"On their way." You turned to Kirk. "Captain, Scotty needs you and Spock down in engineering right away." Kirk nodded and checked a few things before turning to you. "Take the conn, navigate us to the nearest neutral territory." You stood shocked.

"No, no, you do NOT want me navigating, I'll accidentally navigate us off the edge of planet or something." The entire crew stared at you. "You won't do that bad." Kirk scoffed. "I once navigated off a cliff. Trust me it's entirely possible with me navigating." Kirk smirked at you. "Alright, Sulu navigate us somewhere safe. Spock with me. Y/N, you're in charge." You stared open mouthed at the doors which slid shut. You turned and look back at the crew. "Ummm. So, neutral territory please." Sulu chuckled. "I have never been in charge before and I'm not good at being a leader." Chekov shrugged. "If you take out the hesitation and the so, you did very well."

"Thank you, Chekov." The ship shook violently, "Slow down, Sulu and avoid being so close to the planet's edges. The gravitational pull will not affect the engine if we stay away from it, then it shouldn't be so bad." Again, the crew stared at you. "What?"

"Why do you know that?" Nyota asked. "I read the engineering books that Kirk keeps leaving in my quarters. I am not sleeping with him, we are just friends." She raised her eyebrows but otherwise didn't reply. "I see you didn't navigate us off the edge of planet Sulu well done." Kirk waltzed back in. With a meaningful look at you. Spock was checking something on his PADD. "Oh please, like you haven't done anything like that before." Jim made an offended noise, "You drove us into a house when we were ten!" You shouted at him, "And you drove off a cliff."

"Navigated. You were driving, I was navigating. You had plenty of self-control and you could have stopped driving or gone the other way." You pointed out. "Damn, I forgot you were there for that."

"You drove off a cliff." Nyota asked. "Yeah he did more than once." You answered. Kirk shrugged, "I was adventurous."

"More like you had a death wish." You muttered returning to your seat.
