"There's no way. I just can't believe our babies are already starting school!" Mark cries.
Scott pouts and rests his head on Mark's shoulder. "It feels like just yesterday you were giving birth!"
Mason looks over and chuckles at his boyfriends. It has been quite emotional the past few days with getting the twins ready for school. Neither of the three are ready for the twins to grow up yet.
But now, they're five years old and starting kindergarten today. It totally crept upon them.
"We're going to be late if you two keep this up," Mason says.
"How are you being so calm right now? Our babies are starting school!" Mark exclaims.
"I'm just trying my best not to break down," Mason admits.
Scott gasps and lifts his head off of Mark's shoulder. "I knew you were holding back!"
Mason sticks his tongue out at Scott before reaching down and grabbing the twins' bags. "Shane! Eli! Hurry up, we're going to be late for school! Oh God, I can't believe I'm actually saying that..."
Scott holds onto Mark and smiles as the twins hurry into the kitchen, all dressed up for their first day.
"Ready to go, kiddos?" Mason asks, smiling at the twins.
"Ready!" The twins reply at the same time, earning a chuckle from Mason.
"Already starting with the speaking at the same time," Mark says, shaking his head. "Alright then, let's go. I don't want us to be late." He grabs Eli's hand while Scott grabs Shane's, and they head outside.
The family pile into the car before heading to school.
"This is so surreal," Scott mumbles as they walk into the classroom, glancing over at Mark and Mason.
"My babies are growing up. They're going to school," Mark pouts as he looks around at everything. "There's your teacher, boys-" They lead the way over to the teacher.
The teacher looks over and smiles when she sees the family. "Wow. Big family,"
"Kind of," Mark chuckles. "This is Shane and Elijah. He prefers to be called Eli though."
"Wonderful to meet you boys. I'm Mrs. Valentine," she says. "Who are the parents?"
"Oh, we all are-" Mason says, biting his lip. He knew it would come up, and it would be difficult to explain, he just hopes that the teachers and other parents would be respectful, at least. "Uh- all three of us are. Um, it's very complicated." He looks over at his boyfriends.
"It's not complicated at all. My brother is in a relationship like yours," the teacher smiles.
Mark sighs in relief. "Wow. That's great," he says. "We were so worried-"
"It's totally understandable," she says, nodding. "Well, it's wonderful to meet you, and I'm so happy to have your boys in my class. I'm sorry it's so rushed. First days are always chaotic." She chuckles.
