the proposal

the first thursday....

after more than a year of looking, he found the daughter of carlito mendoza, the man who saved his life. tonight he is on a mission to fulfill his promise.

while waiting in the car with his friend, jason, he looked at the two pieces of paper one more time

'pakisabi sa anak ko na mahal na mahal siya ng tatay'

'pakisabi sa anak ko walang oras, minuto o segundo na hindi ko pinagsisihan ang iwan siya at ang kanyang ina'

he kept them all. the pieces of paper where carlito mendoza wrote his dying messages.

he intended to show her. to let her know the sincerity of her father. he wants her to forgive the man who gave life to her and who saved his.

he had been watching her from a far for a good few months already. studied her routine and habits. making sure she's always safe and unharmed. there were even times he found himself smiling at her clumsiness and her cute gestures.

his mind got interrupted when jason spoke

"mukhang lalakas pa yung ulan ano sigurado ka ba na lalabas yang hinihintay natin?" jason double-checked with richard

baka nag-overtime lang yun. he looked up the sky it was kind of dark but he wanted to be positive about today   ambon lang yan

"you're the boss"  jason quirked  "hindi ba delikado yang trabaho ni maine dyan? gabi na siya umuuwi palagi. minsan may inaabutan pa tayo na mga nag-iinuman"

hindi naman siguro. besides lagi ko naman siya binabantayan hanggang makauwi siya

jason smiled. ever since they started trailing maine he noticed how his friend's demeanor changed. he may not admit the changes in himself but for a person who grew up with the guy, it's so obvious how huge the difference is from richard's old self.

he smiles more often. he became more.... human. as a friend he bet with himself, it's just a matter of time before this maine mendoza turns his friend to a knight in shining armour.

a little after eight, richard saw a girl wearing a white satin dress bolted out from the backdoor area of the restaurant. his heart panicked. maine was wearing her waitress uniform when she stepped inside the establishment. he felt something was wrong.

a man came after maine and tried to snatch her arm. he latched out of his seat.

jason! something's wrong

when he got out of the car, the rain started to pour harder. but the heaven's cries did not stop him from rescuing maine.

jason also went out of the car for back up. they hurried over to maine's direction

they both saw as the man got a hold of maine who seemed to be shouting but the heavy raindrops it overpowered her cry for help.

richard and jason was just in time before the man was able get maine inside the car.

sir may problema yata. richard asked while he balled his fist to keep himself calm

"wala. walang problema. pakipot lang"  the man answered still holding maine's mouth

sir bitiwan nyo yung dalaga  richard warned the man

"bakit ko bibitawan to? nagbayad ako sa manager nya kung type mo magba—arrgghh!!!"

richard's fist landed on the man's face. after several more punches jason meddled to stop richard
