richard is looking outside the skyline view of his office while he is patiently waiting for his wife who asked for a week away from him.

maine went back to her condo where she drained herself with alcohol because she cannot sleep without richard's presence, and given her current state, she knew that's how it will be in the future.

a life without richard.

when he heard soft knocks he cleared his throat. he never liked being on the blind side nor on the waiting game. but again he has to remind himself. this is maine. his wife.

come in

finally after a week of longing, he got a glimpse of her. she seemed like she lost weight and there were dark circles under her eyes. he was worried.

she placed a folder on his desk. his brows creased.

what's this?

i'm requesting for you to nullify our marriage

wait what?! she asked for a week time off for herself and then what? void their marriage?

but if his wife wants to do it this way, this is a game that he is good at. walang laban dito si maine.

he adjusted his seat and leaned his back while he played with his mont blanc pen.

on what grounds?

maine hesitated.

when he saw the struggle in her eyes he stood up. something's wrong. his wife does not back down on any kind of fight. this is different. she seemed lost. and helpless.

he engulfed maine in his arms.

her tears fell as she closed her eyes. those words had always given her solace. but now it hurts. hearing him say those words made her heart twinge.

i'm letting you go richard... please  she begged. she begged like a an angel wounded from a battle.

his words pierced thru her whole being

she pushed him away but he kept his stance.

talk to me love. tell me what's happening

so yeah maybe if she tells him the truth he would sign the damn papers. you'll lose him eventually, she reminded herself, so tell him.

the pain is overwhelming.

richard was baffled. he cannot understand what's happening. he's trying his hardest to remember what went wrong.

after their trip to maldives, maine felt sick so they stayed in the hospital for a 48 hour observation. the doctor did not find anything wrong so they went home.

few days later she started acting indifferent. and finally two weeks after, she told him she needed some time away from everyone. and even if he does not want to, he agreed. because as his philosophy dictates, whatever his wife wants, he will always give it. always.
