Courage, for me, probably has about a million definitions. It can range from protecting a bunch of people to simply standing up for yourself. But no matter how small the scale, it's worth the same amount of attention and admiration as the greatest achievements you could possibly think of.
Some people are very naturally courageous. They've always stood up for themselves, for other people. They speak their minds. I've always admired people like that. Probably because I've always been the opposite. I mean, I've never had any trouble defending my friends or my family, but I feel like that's more instinctual then something that requires bravery.
I don't really think you can measure courage though. Everyone has it, in some way or another, whether or not they think of it as courage. To me, any act of courage is huge. It's just not something that seems really prevalent today. Mob mentality is the reigning mindset of most people and it's almost always negative, almost always on the internet. It doesn't take much courage to tear someone down on Twitter or Tumblr or Instagram.
If I absolutely had to pick one definition and one measurement for something like courage, it would be whether or not you speak out against that kind of mob mentality and how often. There's a difference between fighting for what's right and just fighting, and I think people forget that.
