Chapter 1
Maia's POV
"Maia? You need to get up for school!" my mum shouted at the bottom of the stairs waking me up. I was never a morning person and I hated getting up for school on a Monday morning.
"Okay I'm coming" I grumbled as I got up nearly tripping over the boxes in my room as I walked into my en suite.
I just moved to London from America as mum got a new job and we don't talk about my dad. So it's my first day in a new school and I'm so nervous. I got in the shower and attempted to was my nerves away but it didn't really help. I got out and put on skinny jeans, a plain t-shirt and a big hoody. I loved wearing hoodies as I found them really comfy. On my feet I wore converses. I walked downstairs and picked up an apple. My identical twin sister, Ruth, was really girly and she was downstairs eating an apple. I went to the cupboard and helped myself to cereal. I then got my bag and went to school with Ruth driving me. We walked to the principles office to pick up or timetables (schedules.) We were in different home rooms so I walked to the one I was in, getting slightly lost on the way. When I got there my teacher wasnt there yet so I took a seat next to a guy.
"Hi I'm Austin" he said.
"Hey I'm Maia, i've just moved here" I said.
"Oh cool, where did you move from?"
"I moved From America"
"Oh cool! Have you ever been to England before?"
"Nope, this is my first time and I will probably stand out of the crowed because of my accent"
"Naaa you're alright! I love the American accent anyway"
"Thank you, I love the british accent!" I said. Just then the teacher walked in.
"Today we have a new student all the way from America" she said, I stood up and went to stand next to her.
"This is Maia and I've already seen you've already kind of settled in. Tell us a little bit about youself" she said.
"Errmmmm I'm from America obviously, I have an identical twin sister who's girlier than I am. You'll be able to tell the difference between us. Ermm I've never been to the UK or London before so I'm kinda nervous!" I said and then sat back down.
The teacher took the register and then I got my bag and tried to find my first lesson. I felt someone grab my arm just as I was leaving the room. I turned around.
"Hey, what class do you have first?" Austin said.
"Ermmm I have music, you?" I asked.
"Same, I will walk you there" he said.
"Cool! What instrument do you play?"
"Ermm I play the guitar and the piano, but mainly guitar, you?"
"Same but I play both quite a lot!"
"We're here, well at least you know someone in the class! You'll settle in!" He said.
We walked into class and everyone else showed up seperatly. Then the teacher walked in.
"Okay class, I want to see what everyone can do so one at a time please can you play a song. You can go first" he said pointing to me. I stood up and got a guitar. I sat back down and started stumming I won't Give up by Jason Mraz. (link on the side ---------> )
Next was Austin who sang a really good song. He has an amazing voice!
When class was over I caught up with him.
"You were amazing, I had no idea you could sing like that!" I said.
"Thank you, you were alright yourslef" he said.
"Thank you, what class do you have next?" I asked.
"I have French and you?" he asked.
"Same, I think my sister, Ruth, is in this class too. She's flirty, just to let you know" I said.
"Don't worry, I'm kinda used to girls flirting with me but I quite like the dorky girls that dont really make an effort to how they dress" he said. I was really shocked, I thought he liked girls that wore really low tops, but I was really shocked when he said he prefered dorky girls like me.
"Yeah, I don't really see the point of wearing low tops and short skirts, the boys don't really notice it anyway and I prefer wearing hoodies and jeans. I do dress up for special occasions before you ask" I said.
"Yeah me too. Here is french, do you wanna sit next to me?" he said.
"Yeah sure" I said.
