Cruel World

Jimin and Yoongi were two of the few people who are happy about the weekend ending. Although there is so many people in the school, which the two weren't really fond of people, they only thought of it as a small obstacle compared the enormous amount of joy they will have once they see each other again.

Luckily for Jimin, he woke up early just to make sure he's able to meet Yoongi at that intersection they promised and walk to school together.

He runs up to his mother and pulls her into a tight hug. "Bye Mum!" He says as he plants a kiss on her cheek before going to grab his backpack and shoes.

His mother laughs as she kisses the top of his head. It made her feel good that her son in high school still gave her hugs and kisses with no shame. "I love you Chim! Don't forget about your equipment!"

"Yah! School first!" Jimin shouts before closing the door to her.

"That's my boy. She chuckles as draws her attention back to the book she was reading.

Jimin looks at the sidewalk ahead of him and takes a deep breath, before beginning to walk. He already couldn't stop smiling and he hasn't even seen Yoongi yet. The weekend that felt like forever has only built up impatience to see him again and now that the time was close, he could barely control himself.

"Aish, it's already so hot out," he grumbles as he looks down at his MP3. He takes it off shuffle and puts Collar Full by Panic at the Disco on repeat because it was the song that he has an obsession with at the moment. 'Show me your love...' Jimin starts to hum to the catchy tune. 'If you're gonna be the death of me, that's how I want to go.'

Being locked inside his head with music, he didn't realize that Yoongi saw him. Yoongi smiles as he picks up his pace. He stops before the humming little Mochi and pats his shoulder, surprising him.

"Hey Jimin!" Yoongi says as he shows his gummy smile. He then notices that Jimin had both earbuds in. His smile drops and turns into a more concerned look. "Yah!" He gently takes one earbud out. "Don't have both of your earbuds in while you're alone! Someone could come up and kidnap you or some shit!" He grabs ahold of Jimin's hand. "Please care of yourself."

Jimin is flabbergasted at the multiple moods Yoongi went through in these few moments. "I-I..." He already stutters when Yoongi is around but now he has no words to speak. He tries to ruffle his ash brown hair with his hand but noticed that Yoongi was still holding it tightly.

Yoongi looks down and quickly releases Jimin's hand and clears his throat. "So what were you listening to?" He tries to get rid of the awkward atmosphere he made himself.

The only answer Yoongi got in return was an innocent laugh from Jimin. It isn't one of those loud and obnoxious laughs, but a soft one where his smile is so wide that his eyes ended up smiling too. It made think that this kid is too innocent for this cruel world.

"Fine then don't tell me~" Yoongi says in a playful way. "Guess I'll just walk on my own," he says as he continues to walk.

Jimin's eyes widen. "N-no!" He calls after as he stumbles to catch up to Yoongi.

Yoongi chuckles as he stops and turns to Jimin. "I'm just kidding! I'll never leave you," he smiles as he ruffles Jimin's hair for him.

"W-Why did you have me expose my athletic ability though?" Jimin pouts. He was also surprised that Yoongi is wearing his black leather jacket in this temperature but everyday is leather weather for him.

"Don't worry, I'm not athletic either that's why I didn't run," Yoongi chuckles. He turns and signals down the long sidewalk. "So off to school?"

Jimin happily nods as the two begin to walk. He continues to bob his head to his music's beat and then notices that Yoongi didn't have any source of music. He grabs the other earbud and holds it out to him. "It's P-Panic! At the Disco," He offers.

Yoongi smiles as he takes the ear bud and puts it in his ear. "Too Weird to Live, To Young to Die is such an underrated album," he hums. School wasn't one of Yoongi's strong points but he definitely knew his stuff in the music industry.

"Not as underrated as P-Pretty Odd." Jimin chuckles.

"True," Yoongi agrees. Out of the corner of his eye, he sees Jimin gripping one of his backpack straps again. Without bringing attention to it, he smiles and continues walking with him.

The two antisocials make their ways through the crowd of people to get to their first class.

Couples greet each other by making out next to the lockers. The drug dealers exchange money with each other. The nerds of the school are already being picked on. Just another day of high school.

And Jimin wishes that his music was just a bit louder...

"Yoongi got another one?"

"I saw that too! He will regret it."

"And it's even that new kid who came from homeschooling!"

"How heartless to take advantage of someone who doesn't even know how to interact with other people."

"The Heartless Player will never change."

"He even says he isn't romantically attracted."

"That's because he's not together with anyone long enough to even form a bond!"

"What a slut."

"That kid better not be stupid or else he will be Yoongi's dog by the end of this week."

"Does he even know what love is?"

"He barely passed English, there's no way."

The buzz of the drama filled Jimin's head. It was as if his music was put on mute and all that he could hear was the gossip.

He doesn't like negativity, especially when it is directed towards him. And it angered and saddened him even more to hear negative things about Yoongi.

Yoongi looks back to see Jimin's head was low and his smile has left. "Hey," He grabs Jimin's wrist.

Jimin quickly looks up at Yoongi with saddened eyes that made Yoongi also feel sad. For once, someone else's emotions affected Yoongi's.

Yoongi rubs the back of Jimin's hand with his thumb, trying to comfort him. "Ignore them. They're just looking for attention," he hums.

Jimin nods as he tightens the grip between their hands and continues walking. He now felt better about the situation, thanks to Yoongi. He's so strong and tough in Jimin's eyes, it makes him want to be just like him.

Yoongi normally didn't stress over the drama and people who tried to pick fights but that was just when he was alone. Now that Jimin might get involved with it, it makes him worry.

He doesn't want Jimin to go through the same things he has in the past. He wants Jimin to enjoy his first and last two years of high school without the struggle of bullies. He wants to protect Jimin from this terrible world...

But Yoongi knows that it isn't possible.
