CHAPTER SEVEN
Protecting Happiness

After over an hour of trying to comprehend math, class finally ends. Yoongi and Jimin were in to rush to get out so they decided to wait for the desperate ones to either get high or to have a quick make-out before the next class rush out of the room first.

Yoongi walks up to Jimin with a worried face. "I didn't understand anything and I'm going to fail the test," he bluntly says as they begin to walk out of the classroom.

"Y-Yeah, I never knew 'y' was so desperate to find their 'x'," he chuckles as he pulls out his MP3 and puts one ear bud in.

Yoongi couldn't help but smile. "You have some pretty good puns in there," He compliments as he ruffles Jimin's hair.

Jimin proudly nods. "I-it's one of the few things I'm good at," he says as he holds out his other earbud with his MP3. "Y-You can pick the music this time!"

Yoongi lets out a hum as he scrolls through Jimin's library. "I'm such an indecisive person when it comes to music because it's like picking a favorite child," he sighs. "Do you mind if I just put I on shuffle?"

"S-Sure!" Jimin immediately replies which makes his cheeks burn up with embarrassment. He cups them, hoping to hide it but he knows it's no use.

Before Yoongi was able hit shuffle, he bumped shoulders with someone. He lifts his head to apologize. "Sor—" He freezes when he sees who it is.

The tall figure glared down at Yoongi. His face had no emotion except for his eyes that are narrowed on him. The only thing that made him look intimidating was the major height difference between him and Yoongi.

"Well isn't it Yoongi," the low voice booms through the buzz of the voices in the hallway.

"Yongsun," Yoongi bitterly replies. His blood boiled at the sight of him.

Jimin looks at the two with confusion. He had a feeling to jump into the conversation but he decided to stay quiet hoping that Yongsun will just leave.

Yongsun looks at Jimin and smirks. "So the rumors are true," he says in a monotone voice.

"Rumors and the truth don't really belong in the same sentence," Yoongi bluntly replies. He is pissed that Jimin is already getting brought into things like this.

Yongsun laughs. "Looks like tough guy has suddenly gone soft," he looks at Yoongi before he gets closer to Jimin. "Why are you with this kid? Did he bribe you with money he doesn't have?"

Before Yongsun could get any closer, Yoongi steps in between Yongsun and Jimin. His normally soft eyes became the dark and hooded ones that Jimin saw when he first met Yoongi. "Leave him out of this," Yoongi growls.

A smirk leaves Yongsun. "So this one is actually important to you, huh?" He folds his arms, showing that he's not going to leave anytime soon. "Or is this just another one of your side-hoes?"

"I said leave him out of this!" Yoongi repeats. He looks over at Jimin and wraps their arms together. "Let's get out of here," he says as he begins to lead Jimin to the cafeteria.

"Hold up," Yongsun says as he grabs ahold of Yoongi's shoulder. "I didn't say I was finished." He looks over at Jimin. "I want an answer from pipsqueak himself." He leans over so he's more Jimin's height. "Are you following Yoongi around because he looks badass? Is it because he's so tough and strong and it helps your low ass self-esteem?"

Jimin got more and more hurt after each comment that was leaving Yongsun's lips, making him speechless. The only reply he was able to give is his glistening eyes.

"Awe, are you going to cry because your boyfriend isn't as tough as he looks?" Yongsun scoffs. "Pathetic."

"You know what asshole?"

Yongsun looks over at Yoongi and...

WHAM!

Yongsun's jaw gets hooked by Yoongi. It caught Yongsun off guard, causing him to stumble back from the hit. He leans against the wall to regain his focus and balance.

Yoongi walks up to him. "You can say whatever the hell you want to me but if you ever talk shit about Jimin again I will throw you in the fucking hospital."

Without a word, Yongsun looks at Yoongi as he wipes the blood from his chin.

"Let's go," Yoongi says as he grabs Jimin's hand.

"Know that you wont always be around to protect him!" Yongsun calls from behind as the two continue to hurry away.

Jimin was in shock. He's never seen this side of Yoongi but they've only been friends for two school days now, so he should've expected to learn new things about him. Just not... this.

After they find a table to sit at in the cafeteria, Yoongi cups Jimin's cheeks. "Are you okay?" His eyes were a soft coca again.

Jimin nods. "A-Are you?"

Yoongi smiles. "Don't worry about me Jimin," he says in his normal voice as of nothing ever happened.

It made Jimin confused that the subject dropped just like that. It makes him wonder if this is just a normal day to Yoongi. The gossip. The bullying. The fights. How can someone put up with all of that and still be sane?

The thing is that these kinds of days are what keep Yoongi from going insane. If no one picks even a small fight with him, he will become paranoid that something big is being planned for him. Pain is his normal.

The two hear a grumbling noise and look down at Jimin's stomach.

"S-Sorry I had a small breakfast!" Jimin giggles as he digs through his backpack pulls out a container of broccoli.

"Broccoli for lunch?" Yoongi says as his eyebrows furrow. "Where's the good stuff?" He as he opens his backpack to pull out a lunchbox. He opens it to a sandwich. He takes it out and carefully rips it apart making sure they're equally sized and holds it out to Jimin. "Here. Forget healthy and have some peanut butter and jelly."

Jimin smiles as he takes the sandwich. "T-Thanks!" He says as he takes a bite of it. "This is way better than broccoli," he hums as he devours the rest of the sandwich.

Yoongi chuckles as he takes a bite of his half. "I'll make sure to pack two sandwiches next time." He looks down at his fist that was resting on the table. His scuffed up knuckles draw Jimin's attention and he notices that they are also slightly bleeding in some areas. He lets out a sigh. "I'm sorry you had to see that."

Jimin's head perks up. "I-It's okay, it wasn't your fault," he muffles through his mouthful. "He was the m-mean one."

Yoongi plays with the last few bites of his sandwich, still bothered. "I still shouldn't have acted out like that," he sighs. "It only brings me down to their level of immaturity."

"D-Don't let them bring you down! They shouldn't control y-your day!" Jimin says with his mouth still full. "B-Be your own happiness."

Happiness. A word Yoongi didn't think much of. Happiness to him only meant that bad times will come and then take it away in an instant.

He looks back over at the Mochi who was happily enjoying his lunch and smiles at the sight. His small hands compared to the sandwich. The way his ash-brown hair hangs over his soft brown eyes. The kind and innocent soul he has.

Maybe, just maybe, happiness does come back.
