CHAPTER TEN
Run Away

For the rest of the week, an unsettling feeling filled Jimin. Unless he forgot that one part of the fight where Yongsun punched Yoongi, nothing was adding up to him.

Jimin looks down at Yoongi's backpack strap that's between his fingers and lets out a sigh.

Yoongi hears his frustration and looks over at Jimin. His maroon hair shines while it gently blows in the light wind. "Everything alright?" He hums as he kicks a pebble from the sidewalk to the street.

"Y-Yeah," Jimin quickly answers, without thought. He averts his eyes back to the ground and presses his lips together. It felt weird to lie.

"Okay, just checking," Yoongi softly smiles and turns to face forward, to continue walking. He looks down at Jimin's MP3 player that rests in his palm. 'Bully' by Shinedown was currently playing.

He glances back at Jimin. His head rested low and faced the ground. He hums to himself, thinking about how he can lighten Jimin's mood. For the amount of time they've been friends, they've never had this kind of awkward silence before. "What got you into rock?" He randomly asks.

Jimin furrows his eyebrows at the sudden question. "I-I am not sure," he puts his hand on his chin. For how much he loves music, Jimin isn't really sure how it all started.

"It's just that you're such a soft bean," Yoongi chuckles. "It doesn't make sense how you can listen to music that's so aggressive."

"I g-guess it's how I vent," Jimin shrugs. "Since I'm n-not normally an angry person, I use a-angry music," he looks at Yoongi. "You can ch-change the song if you want," he averts his eyes to the ground shyly. "I would rather have you be ha-happy with what we are listening to because i-if you're happy, I'm happy!"

Yoongi shakes his head quickly. "It's not a bad thing, Jimin!" He pats Jimin's shoulder. "It's cool." The moment he says that he mentally slaps himself. Of course, he had to comment with the usual douchebag response of 'it's cool.' As if he couldn't be more cliche.

"I..." Yoongi presses his lips together, trying to think. "I mean it's adorable! No! It's cute! Wait..." He physically facepalms himself. Now he's actually making a fool of himself. "It's lit!" He quickly says and then holds his lips tightly closed, preventing from anything else stupid leaves his mouth.

"T-That's quite the range of f-feelings you have," Jimin giggles. His nose scrunches up and his eyes become small slits, making him look like one of those dogs that smile for a photo.

Yoongi looks down at the ground, hoping to hide his cheeks that were burning from embarrassment. "No kidding," he replies, flabbergasted. He glances down at his phone. "Dammit," he groans.

Jimin tilts his head, with curiosity. "Hmm?" He hums as he looks over at Yoongi's phone to see what he could be frustrated about but the only thing that was showing was his empty home screen.

"Nothing," Yoongi shrugs as he puts his phone away. He looks down the street. "Hey, we're almost at the intersection! Time flies by doesn't it?"

Jimin wanted to instantly agree but that wouldn't be true at the moment.

Without listening for a reply from Jimin, Yoongi stops walking and looks at him. "Guess it's another weekend without seeing each other," he sighs, sad.

"Y-Yeah, but we can text!" Jimin looks up at Yoongi with his wide smile.

Yoongi shows his gummy smile and ruffles Jimin's ash-brown hair. "You're so optimistic. I want to be like you someday." His smile suddenly drops when he realizes he accidentally made the conversation depressing. He tends to do that often, accidentally saying depressing things and making others uncomfortable.

Jimin shrugs it off. "N-No worries," he says as he releases his grip on Yoongi's backpack strap.

"See you M-Monday," he says in an apologetic tone before turning to walk down the sidewalk.

Jimin opens his mouth to say something but he quickly stops when he notices Yoongi is no longer facing him. "Bye..." he mumbles to himself before turning down the sidewalk that leads to his house. Negative thoughts run through his head, wondering what possible could have made Yoongi sad.

And Jimin's first thing to blame is always himself.

And he always believes it.

Blinking away the tears that are beginning to weld up, Jimin lightly sniffles before picking up the speed of his walk. The lines in the sidewalk become a blur, due to the tears and him now running, losing control of himself. "W-Why am I s-such a terrible person?" He weeps to himself as he doesn't care that tears stream down his cheeks now. Not caring but also caring what people think about seeing a high school student immaturely crying and running down the sidewalk, it didn't stop Jimin from crying nor running.

He wants to run away...

Away from himself.

After taking a few steps, Yoongi looks behind his shoulder. Normally, when the two would go their separate ways, Yoongi would always catch Jimin staring after he started walking. Not today though. Today Jimin was already gone in the distance, barely a trace of him.

Yoongi felt something sink inside of him but shook his head, not thinking much of it. He puts his hand in his jacket pocket and feels something. His eyebrows furrow as he pulls out the object. Jimin's MP3 player.

"Aish, he's already gone too," he sighs as he turns on the device. The small screen lights up and opens Jimin's full library of music. "I guess I can get to know Jimin better, in a different way," he shrugs as he puts the music on shuffle and puts his earbuds in. He looks down at his phone with a notification.

New message from Asshole

Asshole:
You're at my place this weekend

"Like I would forget," Yoongi scoffs as he opens the garage door and start-up Cinder. The humming of the engine soothes him like music because they both drown out all of the bullshit in the world.

He plugs the MP3 into the aux and continues to play 'Miss Jackson' by Panic! at the Disco. He looks over at the empty passenger seat and sighs. His phone begins to vibrate again so he pulls out it out again, only this time it's a notification he actually looks forward to see.

2 new messages from Chiminie

Chiminie:
I think I left my MP3 player with you... Oops!
I'm not worried though because I trust you with it! :)

Without knowing, Yoongi smiles as he puts his phone in the glove box. A good feeling runs through him knowing that Jimin has grown trust for him. Yoongi does trust Jimin... he just chooses not to discuss some things.

That's not lying, right?
