Sang's POV
I ran as fast as I could, dropping the basket of flowers on the ground. Not caring to try and avoid stepping on the them. Dashing back into the house, and into Rozalin's office. I grabbed a ring from inside her safe, one of several.
Dashing back outside I run back towards the boy. Running right through the barrier not stopping. The barrier tugged at my skin, almost unwilling to let me go. I hadn't felt anything last time since, Lin was the one that allowed me in, lowering the barrier, even though it was for a very brief time, was considerably dangerous.
But right now I was tearing through it. My earrings that she gave me to wear, helped me pass through it, it would still alert Lin but it reduced the full force of the barrier on myself. I'm glad it would still alert her, without me having to worry about contacting her immediately. She might get mad, and scold me later, telling me that it is dangerous to go outside without anyone to help me. But I push that thought aside, after all, it's an emergency and I need to help him.
I run up to him as fast as I could, his eyes reflected surprise as he saw me mysteriously appearing out of no where. But even more than that, I saw pure horror and terror. I would remember that brokenness anywhere, and I thought about how he ended up like that. He tried to crawl away from me, but grunted as he jostled the knife in his wound.
I approached him slowly, knowing the terror he felt, similar to when I met Lin. Honestly, I was terrified myself, wanting to do nothing more than tuck tail and run. But he needed help, and I was the only one that could.
Bending down to his laying figure, I analyzed him. I noticed the unevenness of his chest every time he breathed in. I noticed the bruises and scars marring his body. Cuts and blood covered his body.
I reached out my hand, slowly as not to scare him. " Hello there, Doll. You're quite far from home aren't you? Come on, that looks really bad. How about I help fix you up?" I used the words similar to Lin's when I first met her. It subconsciously reminds me to remember to remain calm. It might be weird to call someone 'Doll' when they seem like they are actually older than you. But I'm used to it, it feels natural, and he might find it just humorous enough to calm down a little. Maybe.
He just stares at me. I suck in a breath at how his dark, almond shaped eyes, look so broken. He forces a mask to cover his features, his face blank and empty. But his eyes betray his face, anxiety, fear, terror, pain. I see it all.
Slowly, he raises his hand. Now that I'm closer, I realize how much bigger and taller than me he is. His large hand engulfs my own, and hope shines in his eyes. But there is also defeat in there, as if he didn't care what I did to him.
I forced a smile to my lips. Which wasn't too hard, it was partly natural, my happiness and relief that he trusted me.
I hold up the ring, placing it on his fourth finger. As soon as I had it in place, it glowed, proving that it locked and accepted him. His eyes looked curious and full of wonder. I smiled, naturally this time, he reminded me of a curious puppy.
"Come on, let's get going." I say walking back to the house, propping him on my small figure. He was heavy, but I pushed through. He tried to stop me, digging his heels into the ground, right before we got through the barrier. " Wh-What are you doing? I'm not jumping into bushes made of thorns! Are you crazy?" He seemed scared of my answer, his voice filled with panic, that was surprisingly smoky. Instead I smile warmly at him. "Trust me. Just hold on to me." I then begin walking again, the boy more reluctant.
We walked through the barrier, the tugging sensation was there, and I nearly dropped the boy. Those two combined, did not work well for my small weak body.
The boy seemed so surprised, dropping his mask, his mouth agape.
" Come on, Sweetie. You're going to bleed to death at this rate. Plus, dinners going to get cold." He snapped out of his daze and smiled lightly. It took my breath away, now that I saw him in the sunlight, embarrassed I turned my head down, focusing on my steps towards the house.
