Luke's POV

"Huh? In, where? Wil. We're literally in the middle of fucking no where." Gabriel was getting annoyed, and many of the others were too. In all honesty, I was just excited for the adventure.

I looked at my baby brother, only to find him staring off into the distance. Confusion written all over his face, as I snapped my fingers in front of him. "What's up?" I asked him as he frowned.

"Shut up, Lucian. Listen," I frowned but I opened my ears. There was a low thumping sound, with a jangle of metal. Horses.

"Horses?" I asked him as we both tried to catch sight of them. He nodded and snarled in confusion. We didn't like not knowing. It couldn't be horseback riders, there weren't any people in at least a five mile radius. Even if it was, it was too dangerous to be out here. No way a horse could gallop around the logs and foliage. Everything was overgrown, a person with common sense would know not to be here.

The sound of thumping and neighing horses grew louder. Why horses? We're in the middle of no where in modern times. Where's the dirt bikes? Or Jeep or something?

Wil became visibly panicked, and quickly scavenged through his bag. Picking up a small decorated dagger. The scroll engravings precise and immaculate . It seemed to walk a fine line between beautiful and dangerous.

Wil pricked his finger and cut it, pearls of dark red blood spilled out. He quickly rubbed his blood on the brown stone, and began muttering something under his breath.

The stone began to shine, glittering  a carmel color—the same as his eyes.

The neighing got closer, and we saw a figure cloaked in scarlet and black heading straight toward us. A gun and knife in each hand. I noticed a large chain around her neck, it was a rosemary that was decorated beautifully. Something cooled around artfully but I couldn't see it from my distance.

It was like a fairy tale come to life.

He handed the stone to Axel who was closest to him.

"Hold this while you hold hands. Hurry up." He was dead serious as he dashed through the trees. Taking out a small pistol, loading it with soft clicks.

We entered quickly. Axel stated he wanted to go first, and he basically charged through the 'clearing' tugging Marc behind him. He just disappeared inside it after reaching a point, I rubbed my eyes, I must have been a lot more tired than usual.

I raise my eyes back up, and...still nope. He's gone. 'Well we need to find another brother now.' I joke to myself, but my underlying anxiety is rising unsteadily.

We ran through the forest the bushes. I felt cold as I ran through a thin wall of sorts. It felt so wrong and yet so perfectly perfect. Like chocolate syrup on chocolate chip pancakes. It felt like power. We continued running before noticing the thick cluster of trees began to thin out. We stopped as we heard the sound water. Eventually we found a creek, further down, a small pond.

What...?

Across the small creek I saw a small girl kneeling in front of rose bushes. Her back to us as she carefully, yet skillfully, pruned her flowers. Some she put inside her basket, others in a stack on the ground. She worked delicately, and patiently, all her movements seeming to do with care and love. She wore a large off-white colored sun-hat with white flowers pinned on the side on her head. The large  brim shadowed her small figure, and could not allow us to see any more than her bare feet and the lower end of her back and white dress.

She looked like a dream.

I mentally berated myself, she looked so young. No more than 14 from this angle.
