Lapis POV

As the day progressed I was drifting in and out of dreamless sleep. At the times when I was awake I could hear the hustle and bustle of cars on the road, and even a train from the train tracks outside. The reason I could hear all this is because of the cheap ass windows we have. They're pretty thin, and I can hear a lot through them. Which was especially hard whenever the neighbors had parties.

Of course I could never go. I was "under aged" in my dad's words. All the parties were just drinking and music and other high school shenanigans.  Not exactly my cup of tea.

"Uuugghh!" I groaned as I heard more cars zooming around outside. I couldn't take it anymore, too distracting. I sat up in my bed and took a big dramatic stretch. I then stood up and looked around my room for something to do.

I should paint I though to myself as I walked over to my desk which I mainly painted on. Paintings of sea creatures and the ocean and beautiful island beaches were sprawled out everywhere on the desk. I sat down in the chair, but groaned again as I realized that all my paint was in the basement, and my dad probably wasn't gonna let me get it. But it was worth a try.

"DAD?!" I yelled from my room, but received no answer. I tried again, this time louder. "DAD?!" Nothing. He must have been asleep. When that man falls asleep, nothing can wake him. It could literally be the end of the world, and he wouldn't even budge. Lapis snickered at the thought and got up from the desk, looking for something else to do.

I looked over at my bookshelf, which had ever book from the "Unfamiliar Familiar" series, and every "Harry Potter" book. Last summer I had gone on a reading spree and read all of both series. After though I had lost interest and hadn't touched any of those books since.

I kept looking around my room and my eyes stopped on my closet door. I remembered my dad telling me that my dress for the wedding was in it. I sighed at the thought of having to marry Kevin in it, but was eager none the less to see it and try it on.

I walked over to her closet, opening it. I gasped when I saw the dress in front of me. It was a very light baby blue color, with sleeves about to her elbows. On the sleeves was lace holding it together in the middle of it, same shade as the rest of the dress. My eyes scanned down the rest of the stunning dress. It had more blue lace at the top around her neck, and some at the very bottom. There were a few small ruffles below her waist. There was also a large hole in the middle of the dress, exposing the stomach, starting from under the chest to a little below the belly bottom.

I squealed and threw my normal crop top and skinny jeans on the floor, and slipped into this new dress. I looked gorgeous in it, and it complemented my eyes and curves perfectly. I spun around a couple of times, giggling. But soon my smile faded as I thought of the wedding I was wearing this to tomorrow. I felt a tear roll down my cheek, and took off the dress, putting it back in the closet. I then slipped back into my clothes and laid back on my bed, starring at the ceiling.

I was about to fall asleep for the hundredth time today when I heard a familiar voice outside and the slamming of a car door. Me, being the curios, depressed blueberry I am, got up from the bed again and walked over to the window. When I saw who it was, I let out a gasp.

I saw Peridot on her new crutches and cast slowly walking towards my house, and couldn't help but smile. I saw the blondes expression change as she looked in my direction and noticed me. I saw a look of relief on her face, then she smiled and started coming over faster, until she reached my window.

I saw she was crying through her smile, and I felt hot tears spill down my face too. She put her hand to the glass of the window and I did the same.

"I missed you so much," I heard her muffled voice say through the window. My smile just widened.

"I missed you too, Peridot, but its been only less than a day," I giggled and saw her face heat up slightly.

"Hey!" She growled. "I was worried!"

"Awww..." I cooed. "You're so cute when you're angry! Like an angry little slice of pie," I giggled a little harder as I saw her face heat up a little more.

"I'm not cute," She said, blushing madly.

"Yeah you are~," I purred. Her face somehow managed to get even redder.

"Ok wow bye," She said backing away a little. "Have a nice life, Lazuli," She said and walked out of view.

"Peri?" I said, worry present in my voice. "PERI?" I yelled, about to cry.

I then saw her come back from around the corner, laughing. I growled, giving her a glare. "Don't scare me like that, Peri! I was worried!" I said, angry at the shorter girl.

She finally finished making her way over to the window. "Okay..okay..geez," She said, a little out of breath from laughing. "Just don't call me cute," She said, giving me a smug face.

"Point taken...," I sighed. How did I get so lucky? I thought as that adorable smile a appeared back on Peri's face, making me smile along with her.
