XII - I DO TOO

After about half an hour she came back.

She sat herself down in the driver's’ seat -the boy was too shaked to even realise that he had taken the passengers’ one and left her to drive- but she didn’t start the car.

”Drive” He told her, his face buried in his arms. She thought that he was crying, but wasn't all sure, it didn’t happen too often.

”No” She answered, calmly. She wasn’t about to drive. Not at all.

”Drive, you have to”

”I won’t”

He looked at her with puffy red eyes. ”Do you fucking want them to find us?”

She just glared at her hands but didn’t answer.
They sat in silence for another fifteen minutes before them both heard it; sirens.

”You gotta’ drive!” He yelled, reaching for the steering wheel. It only took seconds before they could see the police car, but she had still not made a single move to get them away from here.

”What the fuck are you waiting for?! Drive! Now!” He was deprerate by now, almost crying again, but from fear this time. The was only a child after all.

”I’m sorry” Was all she could manage to say.

”You’re what?” He glared at her as two polices made their way to the car.

”I’m so sorry”

One of the polices had reached them and slung the silver car-door open. ”Do as I tell you and all of this will be done without violence” She said.
He ignored her, just kept staring at the girl as if he couldn't believe what was going on.

”You… You c-called the p-police?”

She was also crying by then. ”Just go with her”

He knew that it wouldn’t get any better if he fought back. He got out of the car, slowly, and let the police grab his wrists. His eyes locked with the girls’ the whole time.

”Y'know what?” He said it out loud, making the girl scared. ”I fucking love you”

She opened her mouth a little, not knowing what to say. He wasn’t mad, like she expected him to be. He didn’t try to hurt or kill her, like she expected him to do.
Instead, he told her that he loves her.

”I-I love you too…” She began. ”I’m so sorry, brother, I- I just didn’t know what to and I was so stressed and- and-” Her sobbs became so much that she couldn't even form words. ”I’m sorry”

He hushed her while the cop began to tug him away from her. Ho only had time to say one last sentence before he would be gone, taken away from his only friend, his little sister;

”’S okay, it’ll be better this way, you’ll be okay, I promise. I know that you’ve got daddy issues -I love that you’ve got daddy issues- and I should've told you that- that I- I do too”

He got dragged away from her, from her life, never breaking the eye-contact.
