4. I screamed like a hulk

Maia's point of view

"so, Alec. How are you adjusting to California's weather? Drastic change from London" Livia said trying to fill in awkward silence.

"I like California better actually. Love the sun." he replied with a heart stopping smile. Soon Livia and he fell into conversation. She was best at making small talks. I, however sucked. Alec was polite enough to ignore me as I concentrated on my cheese sandwich like it was most interesting thing I ever saw.

i didn't even bothered to look up when Natasha approached our table. she was a whole different story. She was bitchy and rude and a snob but majorly to me. only me. maybe it was because she liked mark and he never bothered with her. even after we started dating she kept asking him out which he tried to decline as politely as he could without embarrassing her.

"hey everyone. mind if i sit?"

"of course not" Alec replied. is it allowed to invite a guest when you already happen t be a guest?

she had this whole sophisticated aura going around her that made me want to call her Ms. May instead of Natasha.

All the while he talked I kept thinking about mark. 

  God, I missed Mark.   

Maybe he should've dated Natasha instead of me. then he might still be sitting her talking about Percy Jackson with Livia and discussing football match with over enthusiasm with boys. Just like Alec he fit in my friends very easily. but after our break up he cut them off. i don't think Andrew and Livia can forgive me for taking away Mark from their life even if they took my side in the whole break up. Mark didn't just lose his girlfriend but he lost 3 of his close friends too.

All because of me.

I wonder if he got any friends in Manchester. I hope he made friends. I don't want him to be lonely. He will not be able to enjoy his senior year because of me.

"Maia. Maia"

"What? Where?" I jumped up splashing some of my chocolate milk on Natasha. She gave me a disgusting face and cleaned the drops off her hand like it was battery acid. I hope she never decides to have kids.

"why are you so quite? What are you thinking about?" Andrew said.

"she just doesn't want to talk to me. I know you don't like me but at least be polite in public Maia" Natasha sneered. I swear for a second I could see my mother talking instead of her. seriously though? she thought I p was thinking about her? self centered much?

"I don't think it's  you she is bothered about. How can anyone ignore you love?" Alec flirted. Ugh I think I threw up in my mouth when he called her love. "I am making her uncomfortable. it's me she is avoiding" Alec said enjoying this. I never thought I would find a male Natasha but here he is.

"yes my life revolves around two of you. I have actual thoughts in my head. Paul finally called" I turned to Livia trying to get attention off of me.

"He did? Oh my god! I am so excited for you!" she yelled and gripped me by the shoulder, shaking me hard. I swear I'll have bruises today because of her.

"who's Paul?" Alec asked. I could hear accusation in his voice and fury in his eyes. He must think Paul is someone I cheated on mark with. I know he has lowest opinion of me.

"he is" I started when my phone rang "it ain't my fault" blasted through my ears making me jump.

"uh oh. Maia silent judgement's calling" Parker said with amusement. I just sneered at him and picked my phone and went to talk in private.

"Hello mother"

"Paul called again. He said he needs to go somewhere in within an hour so either meet him now or on Monday" she said in a bored tone.

"what? I can't go right now! I am in school."

"then you'll just have to go on Monday"

"I can hear your amusement mother"

"it's not like I bothered to hide my opinion about this whole shenanigan" she spoke in her superior tone. god i hate this woman.

"it's not like I bothered to hide my opinion about your opinion"

"do whatever you want Maia. It's not like you'll listen to me" on that lovely note I hung up my phone. And walked back to my lunch.

"Jace!!!!!" I called out loud enough for everyone to stop and look at

"what???" came a voice from another side of cafeteria.

"I need to go to Paul's right now! Take me there" I yelled back. I had to stand on bench to see him.

"no! I have test in next period"

"so what?"

"so go by yourself"

"fuck" I sat down and pouted.

Then I realized Parker have a car too. "Parker Darling" I said in a low voice while batting my eyelashes. Over the top? Totally , but that can I say I was desperate.

"mom dropped me today my car was acting up again, I'll go back with you guys today"

"fuck"

"I'll take you" Alec said. I looked at him utterly shocked. Did he volunteered to do something good for me? but Natasha was more shocked when he shrugged  of her hand on his arm and got up getting ready to leave.

"but you must have class" Natasha said.

"so does she"

  "she barely goes to class" Andrew gave his input. I gave him a flying kiss for it.  

"how about I accompany you guys" wow desperate much.

"sorry love but my bike can only take two. ready Maia?

I grabbed my bag and before Alec could take my sketch book I snatched it and thrust it into Parker's hand.

"I'll try to come back but if I don't give this to Jace and if you sabotage my work I'll sabotage your face" once I made sure he got every word I followed Alec out.

"you don't mind going on bike? I don't have a car" ah! So, he was hoping to scare me with his bike. Oh god this was going to be so much fun.

"I've never been on bike but I think I'll be fine as long as you drive slow"

He just smiled at me. Man, he was in for biggest shock of his life.

"so, where are we going?" Alec asked once we reached parking.

"I'll guide you."

"Alright. Just grab tight. I wouldn't want you to fall off." I smiled and put my arms around his waist. Oh. My. God. He had abs. I had to stop myself from molesting him.

Mark's best friend. I kept repeating it in my head again and again.

"go slow" I tried to sound scared all the while I tried to suppress my laughter.

"sure" he said and speeded off.

Once we reached his face was epic.

"Paul is a mechanic??"

"yes, wait here. I'll be back in 10 mins" I said over my shoulder as I ran inside.

It was amazing I managed to stay sane when it's the best moment of my life. "where is my baby Paul?" OK maybe half sane.

"it's here" a voice came behind me.

When I turned to see I screamed like a hulk.
