Maia's point of view.
After epic fail Liv and I decided to team up. Glorious girls versus bambling bubbling band of baboons.
Now let me tell you something. Liv might be short cute and adorable but she is competitive as hell. There is a reason she doesn't play any sports. She isn't allowed. Especially after she called some judges uncultured swine because they gave her a penalty. Playing anything with this girl scares the shit out of me. She would do anything to win. This games wasn't any different. She brought some stones that we had in cactus display and started covering them with paper to make them look like paper ball.
As much as I hate my brother and Alec I don't want them to die. Liv on the other hand wasn't concern about that.
"I'll tell them." I threatened.
"If you utter a single word about this I'll tell them incident of 09" she retaliated.
"You promised never to talk about it." I paled. The incident of 09' needs to stay buried in 09'.
"Desperate time calls for desperate measure. We are not doing this for ourselves. We are doing this for ever girl in world." Weirdo. Well I am doing this for my brother. He promised to be better and I don't want him to die before he gets a chance.
I texted Jace warning them about stones.
"What the fuck?" He yelled from enemy camp. Liv tried to hide paper balls of death under the couch when our tent flew from our head.
"You are putting stones in paper balls?" Alec yelled at me.
"You told him about this." Liv said feeling betrayed. Say whatever you want I am not going to let her stone my brother to death.
"You said not to utter a word. I texted him."
"Thats it Liv you are benched." Jace said as she still tried to hide those stones.
"No. Please give me another chance. I promise no rocks this time." Liv pleaded with her hand joined and on her knees. She gets competitive and desperate.
"Fine. Set your camp back again."
"Yay! But I am going to be in same team as this traitor." Liv accused me.
"When it's true it's true." I shrugged.
"I'll take the traitor cause we can't send her to Jace again."
"Your not taking me. Your stuck with me." I pouted and stood my ground. I tried to do right by my brother and got labelled traitor for it. Perfect.
"Are you come not?" Alec yelled from his tent. I just puffed out a breath and crawled inside.
"So what's our plan?" I asked as he took out a red scarf. It was our flag.
"Not rocks."
"It wasn't my plan. I swear. I am the one who warned you guys."
"Fine. So where do you think Liv hid her flag."
"In her bra." I said counting number of paper ball.
"Bra? Really?"
"She isn't as sweet as she seems. She can do anything. No limits when she wants something."
"Just like her friend." I stilled. Was it possible for us to hold a conversation for 5 minutes without biting each others head of?
"Excuse me?"
"Tell me that sweatshirt isn't Mark's?" He asked knowing the answer very well. I couldn't tell him I was wearing Mark's sweatshirt cause I was missing him. If he was here the whole scene with Shane never would've happened.
"It is. So what? He gave it to me. It's mine now."
"Wow Maia. You are really" before he could say anything else we heard a crash. We crawled out and saw Jace and Liv's tent on floor. I hurried over to see if they were alright but when I uncovered the sheets I was speechless.
They were making out.
Full on hands in hair tugging on cloths make out.
EW.
I mean I am super happy for Livia but that's my brother she was mounting.
They were still oblivious that they have been caught. I felt a scream rise up but before I could open my mouth Alec put his hand over it and pulled me up by my waist to carry me out on the beach.
"Livia and Jace!" I whispered as he rubbed my back in comfort. I wanted them to get together but I was in shock that it actually happened.
"I know." Alec muttered.
"My brother and my best friend" I whisper yelled.
"Calm down Phoebe buffay." He rolled his eyes. Suddenly I jumped when Alec's phone rang. He smiled at the screen before he picked it up.
"Hey Mark. What's up?" He said looking at me. I could almost hear Mark's voice. Wow it's been 4 months since I heard his voice. How strange these 4 moths have become.
I entered the house again wanting to give Alec some privacy but he decided to follow me. What does this not want from me?
As I entered the kitchen I saw Jace and Livia glaring at each other. What happened? I thought they will be together now. When they realized we entered they tried to pretend nothing happened.
"Who's Alec talking to at this time?" Jace asked.
"It's Mark. He is telling me about his football team. They have a match soon." Alec said going back to the phone.
"Now that's interesting." I ignored their conversation as I went to get some water.
"I want to say hi." Livia said with huge grin. I knew they were good friends and stopped talking to each other because of me. That was another guilt I had to bear.
"Hey man Livia's here. She wants to say hi." He said putting phone on speaker.
"Hey Mark. How is Manchester?"
"Terrible. I hate the weather and miss you guys." The familiar voice came from phone. It hit me like a ton of bricks. I didn't realize how much I missed him. Plus he sounded so miserable.
I stopped drinking water cause my throat was choked up with emotion. I pretended to go through fridge not wanting to make eye contact with anyone. Not when tears threatening to spill.
"I miss you too. I haven't had chance to talk about new Rick Riordan with anyone. How are people there? Friendly or raging bitch?"
"Second one unfortunately."
"Oh come on. You were just telling me about that new with in girl's football team. What her name again?"
"Macy. Yeah. One of the best football player I've meet. And sweet too."
"Cool. But is she hot? Like really hot?" Alec asked looking at me. Of course these questions were for my entertainment purposes. Well I deserve that.
"Ya. She's hot. Like a real knockout. Finally someone who can not only kick a ball but talk about books too. And you know she is also a painter." I dropped ice cream tub on floor. Everyone looked at me in silence.
"What was that?"
"Sorry. Clumsy me. You continue." I quickly picked up the tub and started cleaning the spilled ice cream with paper towels keeping my head down as tears spilled.
I should be happy. He found someone perfect for him.
He always wanted me to play football but my coordination was so awful he eventually gave up. I knew it was a setback for him that I never really liked any kind of sports.
Good thing he found someone better. I quickly disposed the towels trying to wipe my tears as discreetly as I could.
I haven't cried since we broke up and now tears kept spilling no matter how much I willed myself to stop.
"I going to bed. See you guys tomorrow." I muttered and walk away with my back facing them. I can't face anyone right now. God why did it hurt so much?
"Alec take me off the speaker. Right now." I heard Mark said as I ran into my room.
