Imminent

Yet another poem about my dad. I originally wrote this when he was still alive (hence the name), but after he died, it hurt to read it, so I changed the poem and added on to it.

Your end has come,

Your story is done.

I really don't know

If my heart will shrink or grow.

What will happen now you're gone?

Are you a melody to a fading song?

Do you think you'll go to heaven or hell?

Does reincarnation ring a bell?

Where will you go? What will you be?

Do you think you will remember me?

I'll keep you in my heart, forever and a day,

Or at least until I', in the dirt where you lay.

Without you, who will make me grin?

When I play chess, who will let me win?

Who will watch me graduate, or walk me down the aisle?

Who will make me laugh? Who will make me smile?

Who will dry my tears when I'm sad?

Who will calm me down when I'm mad?

Who will kiss me to bed at night?

Who will take my side in a fight?

I feel so lost without you,

I simply don't know what to do.

I need your guidance, I need you here

Because I see red when I look in the mirror.

I need your hugs, I need your mind,

If I look into the future, I don't know what I'll find.

I want you to be here by my side,

Because it's been so hard ever since you died.

I only ever wanted to make you proud,

And Dad, I just wish you could see me now.
