Jimin-
When Monday arrived after the eventful party, my bruise was still purple. Seokjin and Taehyung flopped out of course. They threatened to kill whoever did this, but frankly I don't remember. It's worse now that we're back at school. People who I wouldn't talk to or they wouldn't talk to me just come up and ask what happened or if I'm okay. I would give them all the same answer.
"I got a bruise on my face." And "Does it look like I'm okay?"
It's bitchy I know. But it's the only way I can stop more people from coming or anyone sympathizing. By lunch, no one is asking. I grab my bag. Hoseok talks to me about his routine for dance. It's street style so I don't know much about it. But he's very enthusiastic when he talks about that and I like passion.
We get outside. Yoongi and Taehyung are up on the bleachers. Hoseok kisses Taehyung and sits in the step below him. I sit next to Hoseok. Yoongi looks at me for a small period of time. I glare at him and he looks away. Taehyung talks about a showcase he is in. It's pretty cool since it's a rich person thing. His photography and paintings will be in it.
"You guys should come," Taehyung says.
"I obviously am," Hoseok says. Taehyung looks at me excitedly.
"You know Jin will go," Taehyung says. "He'd be disappointed if you didn't."
"I'll go," Yoongi says. "It'll be nice."
I sigh. "I'll go, but I don't have money to pay."
"Jin and I can help you," Tae says. "And Jiminie has a competition coming up." He grins.
"Really?" Hoseok asks. "When? I'd love to come watch."
"November twentieth. But my parents are coming, so I don't know if you should come," I say.
"No way, we will all come," Hoseok says.
"A college talent scout is going to be there," Tae says.
"What college?" Hoseok asks.
"Juilliard," I say. "I emailed them a ton so now they're coming to watch me. It's like the only time I'll be able to show my skills." I let out a like chuckle. "It's going to be hectic."
"Juilliard is a big deal," Yoongi says. "Congrats."
"It's also on the other side of the country," Taehyung sighs.
"You can apply too," I say. "It's an art school. And you're the best person at photography, and painting, and you're by far the hottest person I know."
He smiles sadly. "Yeah but I can't leave my family."
Once thing we don't have in common. Taehyung would do anything for his family. He takes care of his siblings. He tries to help with anything he can. He doesn't ever plan on moving away from them. I am the complete opposite. Once I graduate, I probably will leave and never look back. It won't be hard for me to do. It's not like they need me other than to get back at each other with.
"Oh yeah," I say. "You can come visit though."
"I guess."
It fades into an awkward silence. Taehyung and I both know we have to talk about college. He wants to stay. I want to go as far as I can. Just one more year too. I'm too afraid to talk about it. But we know if I move away, our friendship will eventually crumble.
Hoseok breaks the silence by talking about the showcase. It gets Taehyung pretending to be okay. He puts a fake smile on and tried to be happy about the showcase. It's this Saturday and Sunday. I'll probably go to both shows if I can get money from my parents. I'll just ask them separately for the two days. It's evil to use them like that, but they are using me that way too. Like a pawn. Plus it'll give me more time out of the house.
Yoongi taps my knee. "You Okay?"
I nod. "Yeah, my face is starting to look as beautiful as before."
He swallows. "Thats not what I'm talking about." He speaks low enough that the couple can't hear.
I look at Tae. "It'll be okay. We have a year. Maybe he'll change his mind and apply. Or maybe I won't get accepted," I say.
"From What Hoseok says about your dancing, I doubt they'd reject you," Yoongi says. He offers me a smile. I hate it. He sympathizes me now. He's seen me weak and vulnerable. He knows I have weaknesses. Now he's going to pretend or try to get along with me so I don't feel bad.
I decide to roll my eyes. "You don't know a thing about dance," I snap. Just be a bitch. "Plus, I'm probably only mediocre. Juilliard doesn't settle for mediocre."
Yoongi sighs. "I guess I'll just have to watch you. Come on." He stands up and grabs his back. It catches Hoseok and Taehyung's attention.
"What?" I ask, caught off guard.
"You are going to show me how you dance," Yoongi says.
I scoff. "No I'm not. You can't tell me what to do."
He leans down to my face level. His nose centimeters away from mine. I hold my breath just in case it smells. "Then how will you dance in from of the person from Juilliard if you cannot dance in from of me?" He smirks slightly.
I want to slap him. But instead I say, "Fine. But you have to come to Taehyung's showcase, and drive me."
"Sounds like a date," he whispers.
I stand up away from him. "Let's go. I can't do it out here." I walk down the bleachers. Yoongi is quick to follow, with Hoseok and Taehyung following. I go back to the dance room. It's open and there's not a class going on. I set my bag down. I start to stretch.
"Tae, can you get my phone and plug it to the speaker. Then get my shoes out," I say.
Taehyung nods and does what I told him to. Hoseok and Yoongi sit on the floor. I make sure I stretch enough so I don't hurt myself. I put on my shoes and find the song I've dancing to. It's a classical song with a very complex name, but it songs beautiful.
I dance my routine. The three boys watch. I have been practicing this since the summer. I'm perfect at it now. I don't mess up. When the song ends I bow. The other three clap soundly. Hoseok throws in some hollers. I smile and bow again.
"Well, Park," Yoongi says. "I'm my opinion, that was more than mediocre."
I try to catch my breath now. "Thank you."
