Chapter 14: "Happy Valentine's Day"

Today is Valentine's Day.
The day when happy couples celebrate their love. They day where everyone feels so happy and loved.

Except Me.

I'm literally sulking in my bedroom right now and my only wish is for this day to end, even though it just started.

When Brian was around, Valentine's Day wasn't bad. Infact, it was my favorite holiday of all time because I spent that day with Brian.Brian and I used to have a great have time on Valentine's Day. At times, he would take me out for Valentine's Day but most time, we spent our Valentine's Day in door. Enjoying eachother's company.

All these thoughts just make me wanna cry, but I won't. I shouldn't cry, I'm stronger than this.

I sigh.

My mum enters my room.
"Happy Valentine's Day honey," My mum greets.
"Same to you, mum," I drawl.

"So... Whats your plan for today?" My mum asks, sitting at the edge of the bed.
I hoist myself into a sitting position on the bed. "Umm...sulk, eat, sleep...repeat," I state, like its an obvious thing.

My mum laughs slightly.
"Honey, you can't spend your Valentine's Day like that. You should go out and spend time with people you care about. How about you call Lizzy so you guys can go out and fun, huh? "

"Nooo. Lizzy is already going out with her boyfriend," I state.

"Oh. How about Kyle?" My mum suggests.
"Noo. Kyle probably already has plans for Valentine's Day".

My phone rings***
I grab my phone and check who is calling me.
Kyle? Why is he calling me?
"Who's calling you?" My mum asks.
I show her the phone and immediately, her lips tugs up into a smile.

"Pick the phone, let's hear him out!" My mum says enthusiastically.
"Alright" I pick the phone.

"Hello," Kyle's voice pierces through the speaker of the phone "Happy Valentine's Day"
"Same to you" I say "How are you?"

My mum mouths 'What is he saying?'. I place the phone on speaker so she can hear.
"I'm Fine.." Kyle replies.

"Okay?" I say, but it sounds more like a question.
"Errm....i was wondering if you have any plans for today. Do you? " Kyle questions, nervousness evident in his voice.

"No I don't, what happened?" I look over to my mum, who's smiling smugly.
"Would you like to spend Valentine's Day with me?" Kyle asks timidly, and I imagine him scratching the back of his neck.

Kyle he's not boyfriend, I can't spend Valentine's Day with him.
I'm about to refuse the offer when my mum mouths a big 'Yes' to me.
I shake my head in disapproval. My mum smiles falters, before she mouths a 'please' to me.

"Hello?" Kyle speaks again.
Looking at mum's face, I sigh in defeat before answering "Yes. I would like to spend Valentine's Day with you".

My mum lips immediately turns into wide grin.
"Really?" Kyle asks enthusiastically.
"Yeah, I just said yes" I joke.

I can feel Kyle smile over the phone.
"Oh I'm so happy right now" Kyle speaks "I'll come pick you at home by 3pm".

"Alright. Bye" I cut the phone.

"Get off the bed" My mum says excitedly "You've got a date to prepare for".

I and Kyle are currently at a Funfair. We have been here for the past couple of hours, taking different kind of rides and playing different kind games. I'm so glad Kyle brought me to the fair for Valentine's Day. I love the funfair!
