Chapter Eight
Blood was splattered all over them. Lucian's movements were swift like a cat, snapping their necks like mere twigs. Amelia was not losing out either. Her katsiya was drawing blood every few seconds. On the other hand, Jayden took a more defensive stance, protecting both of the vicious killers' back. He knew how important Amelia was to Lucian. If anything was about to happen to her, the battle outcome will be pretty much decided.
"Remind me again. Why are these vampires out for your life?" Amelia asked breathlessly after her fight.
"Let's just say these stupid vampires are not very happy with the Royals as their ruler," Lucian's eyes darted from left to right, scanning for any more threats that he might have missed. He sent a thankful nod to Jayden who kept an eye out on Amelia which was easily understood by Jayden.
"Democracy?" Amelia laughed at the ridiculous thought of the high and mighty Royals stepping down.
Lucian picked up a half-dead vampire from the ground like a rag doll by his neck and the poor vampire screamed in pain. His blood was overflowing from the wound caused by Amelia's wicked blade and the wounds were threatening to tear even bigger.
"Name your leader," Lucian snarled.
"She will die! A slow and painful death," he choked out blood. He sent a hateful glare to Amelia.
"Not any slower nor painful compared to you, my friend." His whispers were laced with venom. He threw the body back to the ground.
"To the dungeon,""Dude, you just had to say those words," Jayden sighed. He dragged the vampire back, leaving a long trail of blood and painful screeches all the way.
"Won't he die? If Jayden continues ... " she asked softly, feeling the pang of guilt every time the poor vampire screamed in pain.
"Vampires are tough," His voice void of emotion." We should head back. Today is not the day,"
Amelia simply nodded.
"Why do they want to kill me?" She asked meekly, fumbling with her seat belt. That specific thought had been pounding in her head and demanding for answers but Lucian seemed to be in an awfully foul mood.
His grip on the steering wheels tightened and his eyes narrowed into slits. " It's not you," he said moments later, not taking his eyes off the road.
"Don't bother denying it. He was literally burning holes into my eyes with that glare of his," she huffed, crossing her hands across her body.
" I SAID," He growled in frustration and reeled back his anger and continued, " She is not you,"
Taken back by his burst of anger, she kept quiet but her head was spinning with questions.
Her.
Her.
The Drake girl?
Her thoughts suddenly came to a halt as she was slammed forward when Lucian suddenly hit the break.
"The hell is- ,"she cursed.
"Get down and stay inside," he said with a clipped tone, refusing to look at her.
"Where are you going? "
"Feeder's room. Now, go. "
"I thought you wanted me to come along," she insisted.
"Not anymore."
"Why?"
"Stop pestering me with these questions! I'm not in the mood for a game," he snapped.
Stubborn as usual, she repeated, " Why."
"Amelia..., " he growled warningly, sending wonderful chills down her spine.
"Let's go and get your drugs. Shall we? You know I could do this all day. Trust me. I'm that stubborn, " She said smugly.
"Fine. You asked for it."
Lucian drove like a madman, drifting at every chance he had. They reached in no time. The building itself was nothing fancy. Amelia quickly scanned the surroundings and the building for an escape route if they ever need one before following Lucian who left without a single word.
"My lord, " a stunning human woman with raven black hair cascading down her shoulders greeted. Her fair complexion simply just made her jet black eyes even more piercing. The way she stood and presented herself was so graceful and yet, a strong aura enveloped her whole body that the proud Amelia felt small.
Amelia reminded herself not to stand next to her as she refused to feel inferior to a blood whore.
"You are quite a beauty too," she smiled directly at Amelia.
Amelia scrunched up her eyebrows in confusion. "What.."
"Caira is a physic. A mind reader. Feeling ugly, Amelia? Don't worry. Caira has that effect on everyone," His face broke into a smile, guiding Caira into the building.
A poisonous feeling boiled in pits of Amelia's stomach. He was all cold and distant just a few minutes ago and now he is all sunshine again with her. " What is this? Jealousy?.... " Amelia shook her own thoughts and feelings away.
"My lord, I think I deserved a more refined nickname than that," The lady joked politely. " And, admit it. She is quite a beauty," she smiled at Amelia.
"Caira fits you well though!" he laughed before glancing at Amelia for 2 milliseconds and turned his head back to Caira and said," Yeah. She is,"
"He's a shy one," She smiled again at Amelia. "Don't take it personally,"
"GET AWAY FROM HIM," The hidden beast in Amelia snapped in her mind.
Curiosity swirled in Caira's eyes but she said nothing.
"Katherina...," Lucian warned her but his tone was rather light to be considered as a warning.
"Oh. Now, you remember my name?" she quickly remarked. "What would you like to have today, my lord? "
"Is your name on the list?"
"I don't believe it is ever on the list," she replied politely but certainly amused by his words.
Amelia didn't know what just hit her but all she wanted to do was tear that wretched whore's throat out. She was seeing everything in red. Adrenaline rushed through her blood. She tightened her grip on the hilt of her katsiya.
She really needed her blood to be on her hands.
She wanted her dead.
