Chapter Eighteen
"Nothing, Amelia," he said soothingly, assuring Amelia's frantic mind. "You go back to my lil bodyguard / hunter and me back to my egoistic self,"
"Egoistic, huh?" Amelia finally broke into a smile for the first time after the whole roller coaster ride but it fell into an awkward silence after that.
"At times like this, I really wish that fool would magically appear and do his thing," Lucian lamely joked to disperse the awkwardness as he toyed with a loose thread on his shirt cuffs.
"You mean the squabbling monkey?"
Lucian broke into a hearty laugh. "Colour me impressed, Miss Amelia for your dictionary is like no other,"
"What are we laughing about! " A very, very familiar and cheerful voice popped out. "Is it dirt on Lucy or our lil hunter? Either way, I'm all ears!"
"Did you actually call the squabbling monkey here?" Amelia asked without bothering to confirm the identity of the voice.
"So that I would be serenaded by the word Lucy ?" Lucian said sarcastically. "I swear to God, my friend that at times I think that you live in my shadow as a ghost,"
"Maybe you should go ahead and poke him for he might be one," she shrugged her shoulders and about to walk away but when her eyes met his eyes, a devilish smile carved on their face as their brain wavelength suddenly connected.
"Woah.. woah. Hold it, tigers. I know those eyes and it's never good when you are the odd one out," Jayden said defensively with his hands held up high like he was surrendering.
Within seconds, Lucian dashed across the room with his vampiric speed and immobilizing his hands to his back. "My friend, it seems that I haven't got back to you for what you did to my precious car,"
"You don't even need a car!" Jayden exclaimed as he futilely struggled to free his hands.
"And, they say nothing is sweeter than revenge," Amelia chimed in with a wicked smile. "What should we do, Lucian? Draw some blood?" She slightly pulled out her katsiya from her sheath.
"WOAH WOAH! NO BLOOD !" Jayden burst out who is also now kicking his legs into the air trying to fend away the lil hunter.
"Come on, don't be a wimp," Amelia snickered, drawing her katsiya more and more with each step closer to the trapped Jayden.
"IT STINGS!"
"Nah, let's not kill my second in command," Lucian finally spoke up. "Plus, he heals too quickly. Not fun enough,"
"Oh thank god, my liege. I owe you my life for-," His exaggeration was cut short as Lucian suggested, "An eye for an eye. How about a paint for another paint?"
"Wait, what, huh? My liege!" Jayden complained but was totally ignored by the other two.
"Fine idea, my lord. I will begin the preparation," she chirped.
"You're not going to dunk me into the bucket of paint, right?"
"Nah, that's too fast. Where is the fun to that when I can personally paint and doll you up with makeup? "Amelia bubbled at the thought of Jayden in full makeup.
"DOLL ME UP? MY LORD! SHE PLAYED A PART TOO IN DESTROYING YOUR CAR! " Jayden tried to drag Amelia down too, in hopes that his worst fear will not come true.
"Well, I can't exactly punish her for that," Lucian simply shrugged. "Can I ?"
His playful eyes seeking for permission in her eyes.
"Of course not. Hold him down. I'll go get the makeup," she chirped as she ran up the stairs.
"Hold on for a second. She knows she is you-know-who and the both of you are officially you-know-what," Realization finally dawned upon him. "Oh, I seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee," Jayden slyly smiled as he wiggled his eyebrows.
"Don't quote Harry Potters on me for your time of death is upon you," Lucian jerked his head to Amelia who is holding a chest with her makeup brushes poking out from it.
"Shit," Jayden muttered.
