Chapter Nine

Taken back by the wave of anger and hatred engulfing her whole, Katherina quickly stepped back. "Amelia?"

"What's wrong, Amelia?" Lucian stepped forward, putting a solid wall in between her and Katherina.

Dazed and lost in confusion, she raked through her hair and muttered, "I'm sorry. I don't know what just happened,"

"You don't seem so well. Maybe we should just head back first?" Lucian said as he massaged her shoulders, loosening the tight muscles on her shoulders.

Amelia could detect the slight tinge of worry behind his words.

Or was it just wishful thinking?

"Yeah," She hated to admit it but her head was killing her. It was screaming ridiculous thoughts at her and her breath was becoming shorter and shorter.

"I thought you would like Caira. She's one hell of a fiery woman with a siren's allure. Like you," Lucian said as he guided Amelia out.

A wave of hatred hit her again as she removed herself from Lucian's strong arms that were supporting her.

"Sorry. No. I meant...," she stammered, lost in her own tornado of emotions. "You need your supply of blood,"

"It can wait,"

"No. Go get it," she gave a weak push as an encouragement. "Fast," she added.

As much as Lucian hate to admit it, he actually needed that blood supply. He didn't feed the night before and forgot to feed on the next day. Thanks to Amelia's arrival. On top of all that, he needed his strength to protect her from what's to come.

"I'll be quick. Take care of her, Caira" he said before disappearing behind the enormous, wooden door.

"No.. I need to be there," Amelia said weakly with staggering steps towards the door.

"No," Katherina held her arm firmly. "You can barely stand on your own,"

"Let me go!" Amelia hissed, flinging Caira's arm away as she was repulsed by her touch.

"What lies behind this door is not for the weak-hearted," she said.

"Lucky me, I'm not. Hands off, witch,"

"You're not. But, you're so... bewitched by him. And that's worse," Katherina said carefully, eyeing Amelia carefully.

"How dare you. I am not one of his pet girls" Amelia growled.

"I know. There is something different about- " She was cut short as Amelia dragged her down with her weight as Amelia suddenly fell to her knees.

"What's wrong? What's wrong?? Amelia! Talk to me!"

Amelia could hear Katherina panicking but her voice was fading fast into the background. Her whole body was on fire and she was suffocating and yet she can't move a single limb of hers.

"Alex. Alex !!" With her hearing gone, she saw Katherina mouthing frantically and her vision was fading into darkness.

"Can't you read her mind and see how is she doing?" asked Lucian. It was definitely his voice. It was so smooth and low like a seductor's whispers.

"My lord, I think you can trust the doctor's words that she is okay. And, I can't read a sleeping mind for the 2nd time," Katherina said.

"Do you know what happened to her?"

"I did try to read her mind before she passed out but it was way too frantic,"

He sighed and slumped into the nearest couch.

Amelia's eyelid fluttered open, adjusting to the brightness of the room. "Lucian? "

"Ams!" He jumped off the coach. " Are you okay?"

"Other than the feeling of being kicked by a horse, yeah. What happened?"

"I'm afraid none of us has the answer to that," Katherina answered as elegant as always as she passed her a glass of water.

"Where are we?"

"We are still in the feeder's building but the infirmary wing section. I wanted to get you a real doctor but Caira seems to trust that doctor of hers," Lucian sent knives like glare at Katherina.

" So do you, my lord," she chuckled.

" Don't be a baby, Lucy. Alex is good at his job," a familiar voice stepped into the room. " Good day, my lady Katherina," he bowed dramatically with a light kiss on her hand.

"Jayden. It's always good to see you," Katherina said quietly.

"Why are you here, Jay?" Lucian sighed, giving up on the nickname that Jayden insisted. There wasn't much of a point to change it. He would never listen.

"I heard our lil hunter fainted," he smirked at Amelia. "Not all that tough after all, huh? "

"I did .. not! " Amelia refused to back down.

"Ha ha. Keep telling yourself that, babe. Maybe you will convince.. yourself!" Jayden burst into laughter.

"Don't you think that this room is too small for all of us?" Another unfamiliar face with a doctor's coat stepped in.

"True. I rather be with the ladies so do you all mind?" Jayden quirked.

"And, the smarty pants, Alex arrives," Lucian grumbled.

"Good day to you too, Lucian. You're in my way," Alex lightly shoved Jayden away.

"Hey! I deemed this difference in treatment unfair! "Jayden called out but Alex paid him no mind.

"Kindly follow the light, Miss Amelia," He said as he checked her pupils with a small torchlight.

"Is she okay?" Lucian asked again.

"Yes yes. Despite the fact that I usually deal with excessive blood loss here, I can assure you that I have a certified license,"

"What happened?" Amelia asked before Lucian could think of something to counter him again.

"That. I'm not sure. You're blood pressure, heartbeat, everything was a mess when I first saw you but it just simply calmed down after... 5minutes? Give or take," he shrugged.

"Do you have any medical history?"

"I'm a hunter," she replied in a duh tone, unimpressed by the man in a white coat.
