Chapter Twelve

The wind whistled eerily through the gloomy, dark hallway, capable of sending chills down anyone's bone. It was so dark that it was impossible to see if you don't have the vampiric sight.

The rusty metal gate swung back slowly, revealing the poor vampire with dried blood all over him that was left alive from the previous fight. His wound has healed but there was no doubt that the healing process took too much energy from him.

"It's about time," he groaned as his chains clanked as he struggled to stand up.

"I apologize for keeping you waiting," Lucian said as he folded up his sleeves.

"I do not have any information to give you," he croaked but he kept his head held high.

"Don't worry. They all said the same thing in the beginning but they tend to remember after a couple of minutes. Some of them have a rather hard memory to trigger so it might take some time. Although, I would strongly suggest you to remember quickly for I am not a patient man," Lucian had an evil smile plastered on his face as he cracked his knuckles one by one.

"You won't let me die easily, won't you?" Hope fading from his voice.

"Where is the fun to that? Now, tell me what is your leader's name?" Lucian enquired as he took his time to approach him, intimidating the prisoner with each step.

"Then, I have nothing to lose. We have no leader, we have no name, we have nothing but one goal. To bring the royal family down," he said firmly but his heart raced in fear.

"I forgot my manners. Now, now. Would you please kindly tell me your leader's name, please? Bear in mind that I do not ask twice,'' he said lazily, circling him like a predator playing with his prey.

"Shame on you! Turning your back on your very own race! Your own siblings! We will bring justice on our own!" he spat in Lucian's face.

"If you insist," Lucian sighed as he yanked both of the vampire's arm backward, dislocating his shoulders effective immediately as he crushed his fingers in his palm.

The vampire shouted in pain, tears welling in his eyes.

"Let us try again, shall we?" Lucian let go of the arm, letting the painful process of healing begin as the bones begun to crack once again.

"How could you!" The vampire yelled. "You let the hunters kill your very own brethren and you yourself hunt us when the sun sets. We lived in constant fear, not knowing whether we may make it to tomorrow. You called yourself royals while you named us lowly vampires when we are but the same!"

"All the lectures," Lucian grimaced as he kicked and shattered the vampire's kneecap making him fall to his knees. "Yes, we are all vampires but the difference between the royals, our underlings and you is that we can control our bloodlust. Unlike you," Lucian said as he stabbed the vampire's stomach with his hand. The prisoner sputtered out blood as he fell flat on the cold, cemented ground. He curled into a fetal position.

"You. You are the same as us," the prisoner looked right into Jayden's eyes who kept quiet all this time. "I'm sure you remembered the intense bloodlust when you first turn. The only difference between you and me is that you were lucky enough to have your turner to help you and channel your lust to him and teaching you how to control that lust. We are the same, brother," He coughed out blood before passing out.

"Weakling," Lucian spat. "Feed him some of the filthy animal blood before you continue," he ordered Jayden but Jayden simply nodded, keeping his eyes down.

"Jay,"

"Jay,"

"Jayden," Lucian called out again as he tapped Jayden's shoulder.

"My apologies, my lord," Jayden snapped out of his thoughts.

"Don't dwell on what he said. It's meant to sway you. You are different from him," Lucian said.

"Thank you...Lucy" Jayden gave a weak smile. "Go back to our lil hunter. God knows what she wrecked in the house," He said, slightly brightening up.

"True enough, I'll catch you later," Lucian said as he walked away. However, he stopped in his tracks after a few steps and said, "You know, I can ask Derek to finish up here. You don't have to do this,"

"No way! Derek will just make a bigger mess out of this. I got this under control. Don't worry, Lucy," Jayden waved Lucian away, as he dragged the body away.

"Okay," he mumbled to no one in particular. At the back of his mind, he was rather worried that the lowly vampire's words would get into his best friend. On the other hand, he was also rather curious about what Amelia did in the meantime. It has been over an hour.

An hour.

A lot could happen in an hour.
