Garmau

Nobody voted, so I decided to do a five part Garmau, considering this is a Garmau book.

~Aphmau~
Nothing phased me. Nothing got past me. I was the school freak, and I liked it.

"Ugly! Stupid! Loser!"

The words came in one ear and out the other. Nothing could break me. Ever since I've decided what I like and dislike, no one can tear me apart from that.

I used to be pitiful and stupid. That's when they started bullying me. I would cry for nights, unaware that I was giving in. I've learned to like what I like, even if it's not "cool". I got my own friends, my own likes, my own dislikes. No one can tell me what to like or not to like. I won't let them get to me anymore.

And that annoys them more than I'm annoyed by the buzzing of flies.

The prime bully, Aaron, sometimes attacks me. But I've learned to defend myself. When he kicks, I block it, when he punches, I avoid it.

This triggers him so much he's been trying to get to my house.

I put up a security system from the money I've earned babysitting. Both my mom and I are untouchable.

My mom has called the cops on him once or twice, but he is the mayor's son, so he doesn't get in trouble.

Our neighbors have called the cops on him, too. And they still don't believe us. They told us if we ever called again WE would go to jail.

Which I find oddly amusing.

Everyone knows how bad Aaron is, and they refuse to believe it. So they'll do anything to make sure oh-so-perfect Aaron doesn't get in trouble.

Both my mom and I were sick of this, so we moved to O'Khasis.

This was fine with me, I suppose,

.

As I was unpacking my things, a knock was heard at the door. My mom was busy on the phone, so I decided to answer it.

When I answered, a kid, about my age, or a bit older, was standing at the door. He had long blonde hair and sky blue eyes. He was holding a basket full of all sorts of things. I started at him for a few seconds, slapped myself and smiled.

"Welcome to the neighborhood!" He said, grinning. "My name is Garroth! I am 15, and I am one of your neighbors."
I was correct. He's a year older than me.

"Hey there, my name is Aphmau. I'm 14."

He set the basket on a table on our porch and held out his hand. I gladly shook it.

"Nice to meet you, Aphmau!"

"Nice to meet you, too." I said. Then looked at the basket. "Is that for me?"

He nodded. "My mother always told me to offer new neighbors kind things, so we don't start off on the wrong foot."

"That's very kind, thank you." I said and took the basket and set it on the counter. "Would you like to come in?" I asked, knowing that my mom wouldn't mind the company.

"Sure!" He said, and walked inside. "Someone I knew used to live here, they were really mean. Then they moved to Phoenix Drop, because their dad become the mayor. Maybe you know him? His name was Aaron."

I grimaced. "Ugh, knew him? He was the worst bully at my old school! I hated him!"

Garroth laughed. "Heh, he hasn't changed. Did you know he is 15, and was held back a year? That's why he's in your grade."

I couldn't help but laugh. "HAHAH!" I said, mocking Aaron. Garroth chuckled. "You sure do hate him."

We talked for a few hours after that. I told him about my dad dying before I was born in the war, and my mom has raised me ever since. Also that my mom doesn't want to date again because she's obsessed with the song "Single Ladies."

Garroth told me he has two siblings, one named Zane, a very emo, yet kind kid who is in my grade, and Vylad, a sweet innocent 12 year-old who loves nature.

He told me what they looked like too. Zane has black hair covering one of his eyes because Garroth accidentally threw a snowball right in his eye when they were kids, and he has one light blue eye, almost like Garroth's eyes.

Vylad is adopted, he told me, and he has light brown hair and dark green eyes.

"Could I meet them one day?" I had asked.

He smiled and nodded. "Of course! They're not home right now, so maybe tomorrow?"

I nodded. "Sure. Tomorrow sounds great."

He told me about his dad, who rarely ever comes home from business, and his mom, who practically raised all of them on her own, and she's the kindest human being ever.

He also told me about his cousins, one of them named Katelyn, who was my best friend back in Phoenix Drop.

After a while, Garroth's mom came over.

"Hello!"

"Hi, nice to meet you," I replied, "my name is Aphmau. You must be Garroth's mom."

"Why yes, dear. Nice to meet you too! Where is your mother?"

As if on cue, my mother walked in, finally off the phone.

"Oh, hello everyone! I am Aphmau's mom."
After a small little meet and greet, we all headed over to Garroth's house to have dinner.

Vylad and Zane were there, so I guess I did get to meet them today.

"Hi Aphmau!" Vylad said, warmly greeting me.

"Hi..." Zane said, shyly looking away from me.

We all ate dinner, which was grilled chicken and corn on the cob. It was delicious.

My mom and I left a while later, and she told me to continue unpacking.

When I entered the kitchen, I saw a photo. It was one of Garroth. It had a note on the back saying, 'I keep all my friends photos on a wall in my room. Maybe you can start that too. -Garroth'

I hung it up right next to my bed.
