Roller Skating

[Garroth's POV]

"Dad, can I go over to Aphmau's house?" I asked my dad. Hi, my name is Garroth. I am thirteen years old, and Aphmau is my best friend. We go to each others house and roller skate. It's so much fun.

"Sure, be back soon though, dinner is in two hours." I thanked him and grabbed my skates and put them in the basket on my bike. My bike is a girls bike, but I only bought it so I could transport my roller skates since Aphmau lives in a different neighborhood.

My bike was pink, but I spray painted it my favorite color, light blue. The wheels are white, and it came with a little bell along with the basket. The seat is pink, for my dad told me not to change to color for some reason. He's an artist, and he's made a lot of color mistakes. I trust him.

I hopped onto my bike and started moving the pedals, which are white with purple polka dots. Some people make fun of my bike, but some people actually like it. One of those people is Aphmau, and her mom.

Aphmau's been my friend since I can remember. I remember the day I got roller skates, and Aphmau tried them and loved them. She begged her mom for a couple months, and she finally got them when she turned seven and I was eight. I'm a year and a few months older than her, but I don't mind. She's still my best friend.

Her boyfriend recently broke up with her, and I've been going to her house about every day to keep her mind off of him. She quit talking about him to me, and I find that as a good sign. His name was Aaron, and he left her to be with my ex, Ivy. I hated Ivy so much. She basically forced me into the relationship, I'm not going to get into it.

I turned off my neighborhood and onto the main road. I used the sidewalk to get to her neighborhood, which was quiet and practically no cars, unlike mine. We used to go to my house, until Aphmau broke her leg by being hit by a car roller skating. That's why we go to her quiet neighborhood.

I arrived at her street, Ellington Lane. Her house was the third one down, and once I arrived, I parked my bike in the usual spot: the edge of the curb. I got off my bike and settled my feet on the ground. I took off my shoes and slipped on my roller skates.

My skating was perfect and neat, I didn't bump into anything. I've been doing this since I was six, and it's so much fun. I met Aphmau when I was five, we started skating together when I was eight years old, and we've been doing it ever since; five years now.

I got up her driveway and arrived at her door. The welcome mat said 'wipe your paws' with a picture of a dog on it. Aphmau loves dogs. She has two. Celeste and Giggles. Giggles is her newest dog, a cute pug. Celeste is a husky.

I rang the doorbell and did my signature knock. Knock knock knock knock knock--- knock knock. She arrived at her door and opened it up, and gave me her signature smile. Her smile was adorable. It looks like when a little girl gets a new puppy or kitten. It's the happiest smile I've ever seen.

"Hey Aphmeow," I called her by her nickname, "Hey Gargar," that's her nickname for me. "Ready to go skating?" I asked. She nodded. "Let me go grab my skates, be right back." I waited for her outside the door. Her porch was flat, with a little ramp on it to skate up and down on. I used it to get on the porch, and it's so much fun going on it, especially going down. Her dad made it for her before he passed away. She lives with her mom and her nephew, Levin. She lives with her nephew because her brother also passed away, and her brothers wife went to jail for murdering someone. I didn't ask who, because I don't want her to get teary eyed. I hate when she cries.

Because I like her.

Not just 'like as a friend' like. I like her as in 'love her'. She is sweet, kind, gentle, and just one of the best people you could ever meet. She is my best friend, and I wouldn't get rid of her for the world. I was thinking about her when she came outside, skates on. "I'm ready!" She cheered. I smiled and took her hand, and we raced down the ramp and giggled.

Hand in hand, we roller skated all around her road, and all around the neighborhood, we even went out of her neighborhood. It was so much fun. Once we got back to her house, her mother gave us a little snack: cherry cupcakes with white frosting. They tasted delicious.

"That was so much fun, Gargar. I'm bummed out you have to leave now." I told her that dinner time was in five minutes, and that I had to go to get to dinner on time, without my parents yelling at me. I smiled. "It's fine, we still have plenty of summer left to skate. I'll text you when I can come out tomorrow, okay?" She looked really sad. "Garroth, have you ever wanted to tell someone something, but you just couldn't find the words?" I looked at her. "Um, yes, actually... why?"

"Because that's how I'm feeling right now. I need to tell you something before you go, but I can't... I just can't."

"You can tell me anything Aphie," I gave her a short and sweet smile, and she blushed at the new nickname. She blushed? Why would she blush? She doesn't like me... does she?

"Thanks Garroth... but I just can't..."

"I'm not leaving until you tell me, Aphie." She blushed even more, and I just decided to tell her myself. I kissed her, and she was startled, but she kissed back.

"You told me what I wanted to tell you..." she mumbled. I smiled. "I kind of knew since you blushed at the new nickname." She smiled back. "So, do you like me back?"

"Yes. Yes I do, Aphie."
