It was only about six months into their relationship, but Keith felt like he and Y/N had known each other for years. Their personalities seemed to run smoothly together, or at least a lot smoother than Keith had anticipated.

And by the looks of it, Y/N seemed really happy with their relationship. They always spent a lot of time together, either just walking around town, watching a movie or playing games, or just sitting around in a coffee shop simply to be around each other. No matter what they did, as long as it was around each other it seemed perfect.

He half expected the relationship to go downhill after the first couple dates. Movies, TV shows, and the Media made it seem like no relationship would be any good unless the couple broke up at least a solid eight hundred times, or that they would at least be boring if there was little drama, but he wouldn't have it any other way.

Granted, they seemed to have been taking their relationship at a rather fast pace, which many people probably wouldn't find to be healthy for their relationship for one reason or another, but it worked for them, and that was all that mattered.

They didn't need to abide by the rules that others insisted on. Having each other was more than Keith could wish for.

After a particularly tense round of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Y/N had ended up losing again. She groaned and leaned back, closing her eyes.

"Aw, are you upset that you lost again~?" Keith cooed to his girlfriend. She mumbled a few rather vulgar words to him, only prompting a chuckle from Keith.

Y/N stretched lazily, yawning. It had become quite common for her to stay at Keith's house until late and then stay overnight, and it was clear that it was going to be one of those nights.

Keith placed a gentle kiss on the top of his girlfriend's head as she leaned into his side. Keith quickly set up the next round and they continued racing each other until neither one could really keep their eyes open.

"Well," Y/N said, sitting up. "I'm gonna get ready for bed."

"I should do the same," Keith said, also pushing himself off of the couch. It didn't take long for him to take a quick shower and get changed so that he could go to sleep.

He laid down in his bed, and Cosmo walked over to nudge his hand. After giving the dog some scratches on his head, the husky mix was satisfied and laid back down.

It wasn't too much longer before Y/N came in the room. She climbed in the bed, right up to Keith, and gave him a quick peck on the lips. Keith wrapped an arm around her waist and nuzzled her neck, breathing in the scent of the honey and vanilla body wash she had used.

"Keith?" Y/N suddenly asked.

"Hmm?" Keith asked in return. He was just dozing off when she spoke to him, but he didn't mind being woken up by her.

"Do you think we're taking our relationship too fast?"

"Do you think we're going too fast?" He could feel her shake her head in response. "I don't either. Different speeds in their relationships work for different people, Y/N. And it just happens that faster works better for us."

Y/N turned over and cuddled into his chest, placing a soft kiss on it. A relaxed sigh escaped her mouth.

"Good," she said. "People keep saying we're taking things too quickly, but I didn't really care. I just wanted to make sure that you were okay with it, too."

Keith smiled to himself. "Y/N, I love you. I don't care how fast our relationship is progressing. I just want to be with you."

---

"Keith~," Y/N whined. "Just tell me where we're going."

"You'll see, you just have to wait," Keith said, chuckling. "It wouldn't be a surprise if I just told you."

Keith led his girlfriend out of the car after a long five and a half hour drive. About ten minutes from their destination, he had told her to close her eyes and not open them until he said so, and she did.

"There are steps here, so watch out," Keith informed her. She cautiously climbed up the stairs, careful not to trip on any of the steps.

When they got through the door, Keith told Y/N to open her eyes, and she did. They were inside a somewhat small cabin. There was a door, presumably leading to a bathroom, and the kitchen, living room, and dining room were all in the same space. Polished oak steps led up to a half-loft where a king sized bed was set.

"Where are we?" Y/N gaped. She turned back to Keith, and looked out the windows.

A crystal pond wasn't too far away, and their cabin seemed to be set in a valley with a few other cabins littered around. Lots of pine trees filled the space between the mountains.

"We're in yosemite," Keith responded. Y/N walked over to the window and placed her hands on the sill. "I figured we could come here and just take some time away from everything back in the city. Just some time to ourselves. And what better place than somewhere as beautiful as here?"

Y/N rested her head against Keith's chest as he went over to her and wrapped an arm around her waist.

"It's beautiful, Keith," she said, her voice just barely above a whisper. She turned and gave Keith a quick peck on the cheek. "Thank you."

Keith gave her a fond smile. "Anything for you."

I might have to put this book on hold for a bit so that I can keep writing chapters. I've only got one more saved up and I'm having a hard time with writers block
