It's after five and most everyone's left the office by now except for Grayson and me.

Berkley got up from her desk and knocked on his door, " Come in."

She walked on in and closed the door, "Are we still working late?"

"Yes Miss Jennings."

"You can call me Berkley Sir."

"Okay,Berkley it is. You may also call me Grayson but only when we're alone. I don't want everyone thinking they have that privilege." he says with that award winning smile.

"Yes Sir." i answer back with my own smile.
I walk to his desk and sit in front of him.
"What is it you'd like for me to do?" I ask

" I need you to go over these documents, make the necessary notes and then scan them into the computer."
"Okay, I'll get right on that sir." I say before standing up
" Wait." He holds his hand up, "You can do it in here, I'd like the company."
I look up at to find him staring at me and that's what we do, stare into each other's eyes.

I could feel the tension between us, it wasn't that strong yet but it was still there. I make the first move to look away.
"Yes Sir." I say while sitting back down.
We both get back to work and it's silent for a few minutes before I hear him ask, "Would you tell me about yourself?"

"Well I'm 27, I have a degree from Columbia. I'm an only child and I really love French fries." I say that last part with a laugh which in turn caused Grayson to laugh.

"Have you always lived in New York?" He asks me

"My dad and I moved here when I was a few months old so basically I have."

"What about your mom, if you don't mind me asking?"

"She died in child birth with me. I guess my dad wanted to get away from the grief and start fresh."

"I'm sorry to hear that. I know losing a parent can be hard."

"It's okay, I never met her so I can't really say I miss her. I mean don't get me wrong, I would've loved to have had a mom growing up but not knowing her made it easier to not grieve for her."

"That makes sense." He says with a small smile.

"What about you? Anything you want to share?" I ask.

"For starters i'm 30. I have a business degree from Harvard. I have a younger brother and i also like french fries." he says.

"30? You're an old man aren't you?" i say with a laugh.

"Oh you must think you're real funny."

"Extremely." i smirk

" I like that."

"What?"

"That you have a sense of humor, my last assistant was a stick in the mud."

He makes me blush, sending butterflies to my stomach.

" life's to short not to laugh." I say

"Couldn't agree more."

"Do you have any hobbies outside of work?" I ask

" you're gonna think it's crazy but I totally love playing video games."

" no way, me too!"

"Really? What do you play?"

" Oh everything from fortnite to Destiny 2."

"Destinys life." He says with a laugh

"I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship." I say with a smile.

We continue talking and getting to know one another until he finally says," i think that's enough for tonight."

i stand up from the chair, and somehow drop all the documents. i reach down to pick them up and my hand collides with his, causing an electric shock to course through me.

we both look up into each others eyes and its like time stands still. I feel his hand reach over and touch my cheek, and before i know whats happening we're leaning into each other.

And then our lips touch.
