The blue from the screen reflected in Alexis's eyes. It was close to midnight and she should have been asleep, but the thoughts circling her mind would not let her sleep. There was too much to think about. Ever since she had gone over to the apartment unannounced and found the thumb drives, the thoughts of her past were creeping in and made her restless. Out there in the world were answers that she needed, but the internet, for once, was of no help.

Shutting down her laptop, Alexis huffed with annoyance and got under the covers. Pulling the tawny sheets up to her chin she stared at the window, the skyscraper illuminated in the dark of the night. If she had only pushed the Delete button seconds earlier then she would not have fallen in love, found out about her parents or even be here if she was caught.

Turning over, Alexis's mind swirled with a whole new set of thoughts. Why was she still alive since she was caught? The man in the suit never answered her question fully, only telling her not to come back.

Alexis was not able to think about that or anything else for her phone went off and she nearly jumped out of her own skin. Placing a hand over her racing heart, she inched over to the edge of the bed, towards her nightstand. Picking up her phone she saw it was a blocked number. Without even thinking, she ended the call and put her phone back on the nightstand.

Moments later her phone went off again. Groaning with annoyance, she saw it was still a blocked number. For who knows how long the same person kept on calling and Alexis reached the point where she wanted to person to shut up, so she answered the call.

At first it sounded like there was only static, for she could not seem to figure out what the person on the other end was saying.

"Hello? Can I help whoever the fuck this is?" Alexis snapped, her patience lost when the phone rang for the second time.

"Lexis? Is that woo? I luv woo!"

Pulling her phone away from her ear, Alexis eyed the phone as if it had been the one talking and not the person on the other side.

"Who is this?"

"Ashy."

"Oh gosh, Ashton you're drunk," Alexis remarked. She had no idea why he would call her. Of course it then occurred to her that he was drunk, so he was not thinking. "Look, hang up and call someone else. I don't want to deal with your bull."

"But...but...but....I need woo," Ashton stammered.

Sighing, Alexis ran her free hand through her blonde hair. Dealing with a drunk Ashton over the phone was not good, for she had no real idea where he was in the first place and why he did not get someone else to help. If she hung up he would just call again, only to make her lose her mind even more. There was no way to get rid of him. He was a fucking pest that was impossible to exterminate.

"Please help, I'm alone at home."

"Fine. I will be over in a couple of minutes. Don't do anything stupid," Alexis hissed, pushing the covers off of her body."

Standing up, she ended the call and tossed her phone into her shoulder bag. Slipping on some tennis shoes, Alexis started to grumble to herself. She gave in way too easy and she would be kicking herself for that later on.

Alexis did not even try knocking on the door when she arrived at the apartment. There was no way that she wanted to be greeted by a drunk Ashton. Going in and seeing what kind of state he was in was what she wanted.

Gripping the metal knob, she twisted it to the side and then pushed the door open. Sure enough she was hit in the face with the strong stench of alcohol as soon as she stepped in. Gagging, Alexis tried to regulate her breathing to get used to the smell and how it left a bitter taste in her mouth and lungs.
